    Hi.

I am a happy owner of 8600gt based notebook (thanks for the help guys!) and as intended, I'm going through the whole Half Life 2 saga as I haven't played Ep1 and 2 yet.

On screen's native 1280x800, the game runs perfectly with all high and HDR on and 100+ FPS, so I feel like cranking up AA and Anisotropic filtering.

I wonder if there is a combination that work better or worse? When I tried 2x AA and 8x aniso I had seen some artifacts, installing the latest drivers and enablig AA for transparent surfaces in the driver settings helped.
Also on 4xAA the game slows down considerably, so I wonder, in terms of visual quality, which are the best setting? (while still retaining 60+ fps)

Maybe I should go a little lower with world detail and up the aniso?
To me it looks the same with AA on and off. I mean there are some jaggies etc, but it doesn't impact the experience much...

Furthermore in E1 and 2, there are new AA modes available... just too many options, don't know what to choose...

Oh there's a similar thread already, so feel free to delete this one.
Also there an excellent article on that, here:
