it will cost me like the price * 4

Some people said to me that noctua performance is close to gelid extreme performance but they were talking about PCs .. is the process different for laptops?

If you have someone in Saudi Arabia he can get GC Extreme through Amazon.com & ship it/bring it to you.

In Egypt the best I could find was Zalman ZM STG-02 ... It ain't GC Extreme but it is still much better than stock

It is in the same league ... Don't use AS-05 as it is conductive ... so it is risk with minimal gain

EDIT: Take care that this item is illegible for international shipping on Amazon ... That's why I recommended ordering from KSA because they have their own shipping service, so they will be picking it up from the states and getting it to the middle east ... Dunno if UAE has similar service

Good Luck brother ... Watch out Antec as it is diamond based and most probably will scratch your die when you try to repaste ... If I were you I would stick to zalman or noctua

I have used both. Noctua is not as good as Gelid extreme. A useless thermal grease for laptops who have poorer cooling than a desktop pc...

@MahmoudDewy and OP, Zalman STG-2 is supposedly quite good.. According to @GodlikeRU, it's almost as good as Gelid performance wise.. If you can get it immediately, try it out... Especially if it's much cheaper!

clean the CPU/GPU die then apply the thermal paste about the size of a rice grain. the heatsink will do the spreading.

All the online comparisons put it in 1-3c CPU-GPU difference to Gelid Extreme on low mounting pressure ... As for lifetime, I repaste every 3-4 months & it is never dry so dunno about longer than that ... I went through the grueling process of getting Gelid just to put my mind at ease

More normal with a 5 degree difference between Gelid and a medium paste on laptop processors. The difference is bigger for laptop processors and graphics cards due to weaker cooling than desktop PCs. The longevity is also important. It's not everybody that apply new paste every 3-4 months :D.

Have used the same thermal paste now for 15 months. Not a degree change. But this is of course due to the Liquid Ultra. Am I lazy :p?

Open my laptop every 3 months for dust removal. There is almost nothing there. Using my mod Cooler Master U3 with homemade fan filters. Works brilliantly. Filters are free so I do not cleaning them :p. I use worn nylon stockings from my wife. Maybe I'd rather do the dust cleaning only every 4 or 5 months?

    Hey,

@TomJGX is right. Zalman STG-2 is good and cheap. Almost as good as Gelid extreme. Im using STG-2 with my two 880M and temperatures never reached 80C

I bought the zalman stg today. applied it about the size of rice grain. i am getting worse temps. not sure what can be wrong. maybe overattach heat sink idk

okay edit, i made a benchmark test with XTU .. i got 637 marks on stock clocks, values and zalman stg vs 485 with tuned settings and stock thermal compund.

    http://hwbot.org/submission/2881577_
    http://hwbot.org/submission/2897014_

Does it require some time to take effect? I am a little worried and don't want to repaste

Zalman has no curing time at all so your effect should be immediate.

For the processor (Or at least for my heat spreader design) rice grain gave me the ****tiest possible results ever ... Line method worked the best very thin line along the long length of the heat spreader rectangle.

On a different note I got the Gelid ... from CPU perspective almost exactly same results versus the Zalman maybe 1-2c difference at best ... The insane impact was on the GPU, that thing dropped my GPU temp by 3-5c and that is BIG.

So if you are only concerned by your CPU temps I believe you can stick with the Zalman.

For reference these are my light use temps (Down at the notification area) @25c room temp. Blue for Intel, Green for Nvidia & Brown for WD ... If you done a successful repaste you should see something similar especially for the CPU as both Zalman & Gelid idle the same.

50 idle on a repasted 4710 is way too much My 50%-75% load @3.9 GHz temp is 50ish ... I am pretty sure you need to redo the repaste but out of curiosity I idle @ 0.635V what voltage are you idling at ?

i am impressed how much difference that thermal compound and the line method made on the laptop. it's 40 degrees in my city now, no AC working. and i am getting 45 degrees on my laptop with moderate usage.

it would be 60-65 with the stock compound.

Thank you @MahmoudDewy you saved my summer. :D
