    Hi,

I have bought a new Geforce 8600m GT and installed in my computer (HP 8510w). When I start up my computer I just see a white screen but my computer starts up. I hear the windows sounds and I could even play music (with shortcut keys). When I put in my old card my notebook starts up normally. Is this a faulty card or can I solve my problem in another way?

Did you uninstall the video card drivers before you installed the new card? Also, did you try hooking the laptop up to an external monitor?

I am not an expert in this area but it looks like you need to flash the card with another bios compatible with your laptop. There is a small library of BIOS here
    http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/
But you can look in the forums for other bios and ''how to'' guides. Also you search in laptopvideo2go for more info.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll try some of things you guys said. The laptop doesn't start up normally untill the windows loading screen. It's just a white screen from when I push the power button...
