Didn't they do the same thing for Red Dead Redemption, and how'd that work out?

I'm sure the game will be released on PC, the problem is how far apart from the console release it will be (hopefully not as far as was the case of GTA IV).

Quality will probably be pretty far from the console versions. If at first they decided not to release a PC version, chances are they won't invest too much resources into it.

I signed it, but I'm fully expecting that they'll release it [eventually] regardless.

I too think they will release GTA on a PC, just a bit later. Rockstar been doing it since San Andreas. I just hope it's gonna be a better port this time, which I highly doubt...
Anyway, few vids for ye guys, for the wait :D.

If they don't release this on the PC than I will never be playing it. There are plenty of great games for me not to worry about this and it's their loss. I got rid of my console a long time ago and have no intention of getting another one again.

You know... everybody who defends the consoles always complains that PC users only care about graphics. I have other reasons. Load times, resolution, frame rate, mods, lack of paying for online (in the case of the Xbox), multiple monitors, steam's in-game browser and such things, etc.

I reallllly don't want to play it on a console, far less have to buy one just for the game. I hope it comes out on PC, but in the end I believe it will. The only one of their series that never saw the light of PC day was Read Dead if I remember correctly. But thankfully, the game isn't 1-year exclusive on Xbox 360 like certain other titles were, because by next year nobody'd buy it for PS3 in the major markets with PS4/X720 out at the time. They'd be really stupid not to port it over, and porting to PS4 basically means porting to PC.

I think the ONLY thing we have to worry about is the fact that they are releasing for current gen will only hurt the game's potential. I sincerely hope that they release PROPER fleshed out versions for the next gen consoles and the PC (keep the story the same, but maybe improve mechanics/gameplay/environment/atmosphere/etc to match the stronger hardware and potential of the systems properly.

It's on the same engine as Max Payne 3, so should look alright. But it wouldn't surprise me if they re-release the game in 2014 for the next consoles.

So far they haven't announced PC yet. Just said it's on the table for consideration. Personally I wonder why they have to think so hard on this. The number of mods and sales for GTA IV is enormous. It's still selling well on Steam sales.

Yeah, it is, but it doesn't give a huge "bang" of money when it opens up, not like the consoles do. The consoles simply sell too much for PC to compete, period. When the devs are done with a game a year or so after it's out and updates stop coming, the money they make is called "free money". Because it's revenue from a game that's no longer their problem. But it doesn't help with the initial sales or the life-cycle sales of the game for the publishers, so they don't care about long-term sales. Like now, people still buying CoD 4? Activision doesn't care about them. Yeah it's free money for em, sure, but it's not a part of their financial plan for this year or anything. Same thing with when a game goes on a sale on steam or something? That's usually free cash for the publishers, and the only reason it IS on sale is because that free cash will come and they know it.

Really? Just let Rockstar make the game they want to make and let the market decide if their strategy sucks or not. PC just isn't happening. I'd like Dragon's Dogma while we are at it.

This, I agree completely... don't get the point of the online petitions. RDR was fun, enjoyed it on 360 but got tired of playing on console, wished it was on PC, and it never came, so I just found another game to play... it will be the same with GTA. Sure I'd buy it on PC if available, I won't buy on console as I have lost interest there, and I dare say Rockstar doesn't really care either way ha

Online petitions aren't a major effort to sign or to create and it often gets noticed but if not then no harm has been done anyway. There was a rare occasion that a console PC port was made for a game due to such a high number of people signing a petition too. Without that petition, they wouldn't have done it. With the GTA petition, at least it lets them have an idea that someone made the effort and it gets noticed a bit more than a few hundred random forum posts saying 'where is GTA for the PC?'.
