Who is excited for L4D2!?!?

Possible tonight or tomorrow whenever steam feels like activating the game. I was probably like most people not excited about the game since it was about a year ago that the first one came out. Now after playing the demo and seeing how smooth it runs and more varieties of items and weapons, I am now excited about this game. My steam friends list has grown substantial due to the first L4d and this one will probably be no exception.

Plus, I bought the 4 pack so I saved some money there, but one thing Im not really into is the characters. I still prefer the cast of L4d to L4d2, but hopefully valve will incorporate the two somehow...

Tbh i'm not, after playing the demo i was not overly impressed and feel its lost the dark and gritty feel that was present in the first one, tbh i felt like i was playing a comedy..

 

i think i read somewhere that steam will unlock l4d2 at midnight est.

LOL, yea when I saw zombieland then went to play the demo it did reminded me of a comedy. Which is find by me, but if you are looking for a dark serious zombie horror then this is not it. Even the first was funny as well and was not at all serious.

Was it because the demo took place during the day that made you feel that way towards the game?

 

I'll prb. end up getting this during the Valve x-mas sale. Not in a hurry to play it at the moment with DA:O and Torchlight on my plate.

Zombieland deff. reminded me of the demo, though.

 

I only played the demo for like 10 minutes, but I got the game as part of a 4 pack pre-order.

I'll be at work so wont really be able to play it at release but thats ok.

 

Quite possible, will most likely end up buying it but currently got borderlands on my plate so really won't be in a rush to.

I prefer this environment more than the first game. Feels more Texas chainsaw massacre and Hills have eyes like. Horror Movies I could really appreciate.

Well the only 1 review that has come has given this game a 9.5 out of 10.

While claiming that this game is better in every sense over the last one.

Itching for some chainsaw-ing... and some zombie carnival zombieland style... oh and some nade launcher action and incendiary/explosion bullets firing, and playing vs as the new specials... and... *goes on*

 

oh here we go again... this is gonna be another MW2:
1) release beta version of game at full price
2) get trusting users to buy it on promises of DLC
3) renege on promise, and instead roll all updates into one
4) charge full price for said 'updates' as new game
5) use profits to start L4D3, go back to #1

notice the lack of mystery (???)

 

Looking forward to the release as well. Just under 3 hours to go. Was playing on a modded vs. server yesterday - playing as a Charger is quite amusing if all of the survivors are close together...

I'm not, same old stuff but with new characters and new weapons. Demo was boring MW2 is fun but IW better do some patching soon or I'm going to hunt hem done and kill them.

 

Are you talking about official DLC? There are fanmade Left 4 Dead campaigns that beat the crap out of Crash Course.

 

I dunno about you but I trust valve a lot more than the people who made MW2. Also, yes L4d 1 appeared as a beta for this, but I had plenty of good times with it and they still support it, plus dlc is always free for us pc users. I doubt they are going to bring l4d 3 anytime soon since they mentioned this one is much more expandable and with all the crap they had releasing l4d2 so soon. And they do execute on their promises...

And how exactly is this like MW2?

 

I m pre-loading the game as we speak.lol. cant wait. I m a hardcore l4d1 player. I ve been playing it for a year now and I love l4d2 so far. Its everything I wanted it to be!!!

@Forge: the non-existent DLC that was promised before release (i.e. updates on par with TF2 including "new weapons", "maps", etc). I know they've released some stuff and other user-made stuff is passable (DeathAboard), but they've failed to live up to what Lombardi promised and it's a depiction of Valve's blatant disregard for L4D1.

@AznImports: it resembles MW2 as in now we're losing another developer to the $$ - and don't think there was any other reason behind L4D2 than the $$. Valve already stated they started work on L4D2 months after L4D (literally leaving it for dead), so clearly what they 'mention' is a load of bull (if you need more examples go google the blatant lies Chet Falisek has told). Until they prove otherwise (and they haven't yet), expect L4D3 6 months from now; Valve has gone EA.

the game is amazing so far. everything is just better. I mean, everything. Campaigns are a blast!! took me 3h to complete just first two of them on advanced with random people online. I completed the whole MW2 story line in 2h and 50mins. The game is simply amazing. Versus is really tough now and new infected require some getting use to. It simply orgazmic. Valve did it again, and it ll be the best game of the year.

 

Just home from work.. opened my steam window and see "Left 4 Dead 2" 100% Ready...

Alas my wife goes to work in like 3 hours so its my only time to sleep for the day, so have to fight the urge to play and try to sleep. Here is hoping the kids are good to me today and watch TV so I can play later.

 

I have to leave for school in 2 hours, STEAM is taking incredibly long to connect, it's probably gonna take a while to decrypt as well. Looks like I will be playing after 1PM EST today.

 

Completely random, but anyone notice how the guy in the suit (can't remember his name) has a voice like, identical to Matt Damon's?

Or am I just going mad/deaf?

 

This and Dragon Age are 2 of the games I'm going to buy until Mass Effect 2 comes out.

 

Well it somehow loaded and worked, I only played for about 5min, I'll play more when I get home along with some MW2.

Jeez all these games are distracting me from my uni work.

 

I'll wait two months and pick L4D2 up from the bargain bin.

 

I wanna hear some chainsaw/grenade launcher impressions!

 

I don't quite remember seeing L4d in any bargain bins.. although Steam had sales on the game every so often, the first sale dropping it to $35 I think for a weekend.

yep got mine for $35 too - 4pack ftw.

 

That combination actually isn't ideal. The grenade launcher has a long reload period--it's single-shot--and while it's powerful and capable of staggering special infected like the Witches and Tanks, it's hard to actually get the tank head-on with it. The chainsaw is an awesome weapon--you just hold down the fire button and it kills whatever it touches, plus you're basically immune to Hunter or Jockey pounces if you're facing them, but it has a limited lifespan.

A better combination is the grenade launcher and the magnum, and some kind of assault rifle with the chainsaw.

 

The chainsaw is good except if you have a team mate who always holds it down and runs into you with it.... But my favorite is the katanna, I love slashing zombies with it.

 

The new melee weapons are just way too much fun.

It was hard to stay excited after 5 mins. of L4D1 !

 

im a bit dissapointed in the drop if performance as compared to the demo, mine gets to 15fps when there are zombies everywhere. Really sucks.

 

Could it be the server you are playing on, because im running just fine.

 

Phew...just finished the whole Parish campaign. Jeez it was long. And the finale, wow, we failed three times on normal and had to do it on easy. So far that's the only campaign I've fully played.

 

Nah ive played heaps of games on different severs, and its in singleplayer too. Whenever i turn the flashlight on, it drops 5fps
