Regardless of what game you guys are playing, do you lift your mouse to recenter it on the mousepad while playing? A friend of mine told me that he doesn't ever have to do that because he bumped up the sensitivity on his. I've started using a Logitech G9 and have found that it's pretty heavy, even with no weights. I lift the mouse a lot to recenter it and it is causing a bit of strain on my wrists.
-
i believe the g9 comes with little weights, inside of it, so users can adjust it's overall weight. have u tried takin out all of the weights yet?
-
I find myself that I lift my mouse a lot.
I use the Logitech G5 mouse, and I have the weights adjusted to my comfort level, but I still find myself doing it.
I think it's because that at my current DPI setting, it's not slow, but it's not fast either, and that's what I am comfortable with. If I lower it, I hate it, and if I increase it I find it really hard to use.
So if I find myself in a tight situation while gaming (let's say I need to turn around really fast to shoot someone), I will turn and since it doesn't always turn all the way around, I sometimes will have to life my mouse, and then re-adjust (of course I don't know I'm doing it). -
Yes, I do...is it really such a problem? I only do it because I have a very small desk.
-
Where's the "I never took notice of that" option >:[
-Goes with sometimes- -
I do this all the time... Not just in gaming! Only because like CZX58 Shadow I have a small desk... Or maybe a big desk with only small space. I don't know, it's one of them
-
I always turn the DPI to the max, so I don't really have a need to lift the mouse, in fact, I don't even move my wrist.
-
It depends on your style, some players like high sensitivity which in turn leads to no lifting (G9x is a great mouse for that style). The other is low sense, heck some of those guys have 2x3 mouse pads .. not inches but feet. They tend to lift the mouse to recenter a bit.
-
Never, I keep the sensitivity up and I can't stand having to move it so much when I don't.

I'm a low sensitivity/DPI gamer, so I'm recentering a lot. Yep. I have a huge Razor Goliathus mat, too. Haha.
As for mice choice, I gave up on the Logitech G5 Rev1 because it was heavy--even with no weights--and the sides were too slippery. The weight and grip combined to force me to grip my mouse very hard when I lifted it, which caused strain, which caused me to sell the poor guy off.
The G9's comfort and custom grips are pefect for my play style.

Instead of Low DPI... Use max DPI and low sensitivity.
You still get the accuracy and precision of high DPI without having a higher sensitivity. -
I use the MX518 and use the highest DPI setting, but low sensitivity for games and even just Windows. I like the idea, one inch on the mousepad = 1 inch in game. And even though I have a larger than normal mousepad, I still lift my mouse since I use my wrist rather than my arm to move the mouse. The higher DPI of the newer mouses might be different, but no plans on changing for now. Whenever Logitech updates the MX518 I'll upgrade. Their G500 has too many buttons.
-
Either too small a mousepad/surface or ignorance how to work the DPI settings for mice is my guess for most. The former applies for me somewhat but the latter more or less makes the problem little more than a minor nuisance.

Exactly, accuracy is all about getting used to your mouse settings. The more time you play with X settings the better you become. Its not really advisable to keep changing sensitivities all the time (that includes dpi since higher dpi means lower sensitivity).
In my case I usually don't mess up with sensitivity and dpi in almost any game apart quakelive which I'm currently running at 5700DPI (overkill much ?) and 0.76 sensitivityBut as i said, different people different setups.

I think I don't lift my mouse. I'm using a MX Performance (The new one) with an Alienware mousepad
-
i don't lift mine at some people don,t evne think i'm moving it at all lol the razer mamaba has on the fly dpi button so i can ajust for about any situation but most of the time i run an ridiculous high dpi
-
I don't like high dpi. I like to move my arm more than my wrist, so I do pick it up quite often.
-
People who don't lift their mouse will never be able to turn a mounted gun in BF:BC2 more than 6*. I swear, I have to drag my mouse across the entire table 5 times to get those mounted guns to even move an inch.
-
I haven't played in a while but I do remember constantly dragging lifting dragging lifting like twenty times to turn 90 degrees.
I think the better poll question would be who lifts their beer while playing? -
My sensitivity setting is always very high, so I don't lift up my mouse while gaming (and yes, I still snipe
). I did the same thing back when I played XBox too - I would always play on far above average thumbstick sensitivities (for those who play Halo/Halo 2/Halo 3, I use a sensitivity of 7-8
-
I used to play Halo and pull jump off ledge spin 270 degrees and pop you in the head and then land. Then I finished school and got a job. Now I'm lucky to even know theres someone around me FTL! lol

I keep my G9x's DPI as high as possible to be able to move it the least distance to conduct a certain movement.
So I really never lift it up. -
Not me. I play with a small logitech m305 too.
-
I don't do it, I only do it if I don't feel comfortable with my current position of my mouse.
-
Yup, still do.
I tried out a trackball back in the days when I was just starting out PC gaming so as I don't have to keep lifting the mouse, but I never really got used to it. -
I do it all the time, I thought it was just something natural.

Regardless of what mouse I've used over the years, I've always had to lift and recenter in any game I played. This is a big factor that affects the decision on what type of mouse I use. I prefer very light mice so that it reduces the stress on my wrist. I currently use the G9 and it's borderline too heavy even with all the weights out (none of the mice are actually HEAVY, but I'm talking in relation to repetitive stress syndromes). I used to have a Mamba but it was heavier than the G9 so I had to get rid of it. So for now, I'm using the G9 and have gotten used to it. I also think the adjustable DPI settings is a great feature in certain games (.e.g. BFBC2 during vehicle combat). I also use low DPI settings in all the games I play and I primarily play FPS's and RTS's.
-
I prefer mine low cause when someone jumps around the corner, and my sensitivity is too high I'll end up facing the wrong direction lol!
-
I do sometimes, although while playing competitive online games I try to do it the least possible.
-
Hmmm sometimes, when my mouse got tangled or i am having very low sens
-
I don't really notice, but I'm sure I do it a lot.
Who lifts their mouse while playing?
