Who plays F.E.A.R Combat AND has Xfire?

I'm just posting this to see if anyone wants a game of FEAR Combat. If you havent got FEAR Combat, and have a GF6600 (mobile/desktop) or Radeon X700 (mobile/desktop) for an enjoyable experience of course, then get it at:

Quick question, I have FEAR (the full game), can I join fear combat servers on the multiplayer mode in normal FEAR? Or do I have to download FEAR combat? Once I get this figured out I'd like to play a few rounds with you guys (I have xfire but can't remember my screen name right now, I'll look it up later).

 

I think not spookyu. It is huge - 1,7 GB if I remember correctly, but it is one of the better multiplayers I played. It is free too.

Charlie - you are from Europe - when you dowload - contact me and we can go and... well fight.

One question - is Xfire the best "tool" for online gamers with friends around the world or some other is more popular? I am not using either yet - and will install Xfire for the sake of FearCombat.

Xfire is excellent for gamers. There are too many tools on it to name them all, but to sum it up it makes in game chat with a single person or a group of people via text or voip REALLY easy. Plus you can see what your friends are playing and join on the server they are playing on through xfire.

 

As long as you have it patched to the latest version, you can play with everybody. What they are giving away in F.E.A.R Combat is just retail F.E.A.R without the single player.

 

I do play FEAR multiplayer from time to time, and I might get XFire once I get my A8Js (since with a 2GHz C2D resource usage won't be a major concern), especially since I have a G15 now and that LCD is just a clock at this point.

Well Ikovak, are you suggesting a NBR clan? If so, that sounds like a great idea. =NBR=MofoJR (screen name lol. It came from the top of my head...)

Look, I'll add all of you, whether from Xfire or MSN, though my idea was that one of us can join a server so that the rest of us can follow from Xfire, since many servers are usually just not there from the server browser. Plus, Xfire is more convenient than giving away custom IPs on MSN. If anyone doesn't feel like getting Xfire, then that's fine, giving away the IP isn't much trouble.

Also, we'll most likely take turns to play in our local servers, so I won't be the only one with a ping of 10

But i couldn't connect to some of the servers - strange. And I used to get Invalid assets error all the time. Thanks for the info Sylvain. I thought it was impossible. Anyway I don't play FEAR anymore and have FearCombat now. It is smaller (3,4GB instead of almost 5). Now when you say it - it could be something with the updates, since it was 1.02 or 03 or something and now it is already 08 if I am not mistaken. BTW, did you try ArmA multiplayer demo? I installed, but didn't try it yet.

Why not? =NBR= or [NBR] looks nice to me. And I'm not sure how ping is good with Australia, but I may try. BTW I have added you as a friend in XFire.

I tried the Czech retail version of ArmA, imported. Unfortunately, it is practically unplayable on my X1400, and I dont think enough has changed from OFP to warrant buying a new desktop for it.

I hope they patch it to remove the HDR and be able to toggle the grass, that would make it playable.

 

Ikovac, the newest version of F.E.A.R is 1.08 so retail F.E.A.R didn't work for you.

And if you are suggesting a clan Ikovac, then we'll probbly need a forum (a fully fledged one) and I'm afraid I myself don't have enough webspace to host one, not to mention enough skillz to make one... If someone else can, and can be bothered to, then please go for it!

Time differences suck, I was just going to bed late last night when somebody who had added me logged onto xfire

 

Hey Havok, what's your time zone? I can try and find a time that'll work... It kinda sucks, but then again, it's not so hard to work around.

 

I have webspace (plenty)...but it would have to be under my domain (which is carlsonline.net). I don't know how to setup a forum though (I know how to manage it, but never really set one up, I have a friend that can do it, but idk if he would be willing...he's sort of a prick). I noticed a thread on Counter Strike Source a while back too, maybe incorporate that as well? Are there any other games that people frequent (maybe bf2, bf2142, garrys mod)? If we're going to setup a forum and a clan might as well have some options right?

 

I have xfire and i jsut bought fear today. I havent tried multiplayer. I dont thnin it will work good since im om wireless and the signal is low sometimes good.

 

Yes I know - but even when I patched it I was getting Invalid assets error sometimes. With Fear combat it happens very rarely. I reboot then and it works. Maybe something with hibernation?

This sounds mighty tempting, since playing Halo online all the time is getting stale. Does anyone know how well this game will run on an asus a8js?

 

The A8Js will run FEAR great! I think you'll find a breath of (gory) fresh air compared to Halo after all that time...

 

Guys we can start a forum hosted on www.thegamebooks.com. Suggest a forum/clan name and I will ask my friend/administrator to set it up. He is currently very busy studying for exams, so I wouldn't bother him too much. I have never done it before so I would appreciate some guides/suggestions.

Clan name suggestion? Just NBR or something else? GameBooks clan also sounds nice to me, so I might be a member of both. =NBR= and =GB=

Well, it's your choice. If you can start a forum, then we can organise 'play time' over there. And I like NBR (one of those, what does it stand for? names), though GB doesnt sound bad either. NBR already has a CS: S hookup so we can do the same with FEAR.

 

Sorry for not posting for a while, but my internet is capped. So far, I haven't got to play anyone yet, so I need some times... My trigger finger is getting FAIRLY itchy ...

 

I haven't touched my comp since last year! OK then, I will start forum FEAR Combat on gamebooks.

Is this games requirements the same as the FEAR demo?
Just wondering if it will run on a turion X2 and radeon X1100. The demo ran smoothly for me last time i tried; cant remember which settings i used though....

 

I'll try FEAR out and if I like it I'll join the FEAR =NBR= clan.

 

FEAR requirements are the same for FEAR combat. And it runs smoothly at 1280x800 on x700. could be playable on x1100 at 800x600 perhaps and minimum settings? (because fancy graphics is making killing harder in fact).

Hey guys, haven't been on lately, but my bandwidth was capped recently . Anyways, we need to organise some sort of time. I've got Havoks Xfire, and recently I gave up on MSN XD. I havent seen you on lately Ikovac, but maybe we can organise a time for that later.

 

no. sorry I was quite busy lately and didn't even turn on my notebook, but this week looks promising. Did you try posting in our clan forum? I reinstalled fear combat due to the constant invalid game assets issue. Now it seems to work. Strange.

Anyway I will see if someone is playing and what pings are acceptable.

I mainly play CS but i have FEAR combat downloading now so I'll be playing soon. I'll be trying out fear combat as soon as it downloads.
