    hi!
    I have a dell inspiron 1520 with core2duo 2.0 gb and geforce 8600m gt 256 mb
    and 2 gb ram.
    with windows vista basic installed.

the problem is some games crashes and then the system becomes not respondable at all (so i have to turn off the laptop and start it again).
these games are "Splinter Cell double agent" and "Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2(I run it just for trying if it will work well on the laptop but it crashes also)"

and "ScarFace The world is yours" crashes on windows xp also I try "NFS HP 2" in windows xp but the problem still exist.

"Scar Face" on windows vista basic also crashes .

Although I have the latest drivers for my nVidia Geforce 8600m GT for both systems versions "163.67" for windows vista basic and "163.75" for windows xp.
So help me what is the problem and anyone who have the seem problem help me to fix it.

cause i'm gonna crash my laptop

I'd suspect old games VS vista = bad but i may be wrong..

Still try going a few drivers backwards and try again maybe it will help, but not giving a 100% guarantee

Some basic things to try when faced with unstable games:

    1. If you've overclocked your notebook set it back to standard clocks and try playing the games again. If it still crashes then,
    2. Check this link http://www.iexbeta.com/wiki/index.php/Windows_Vista_RTM_Software_Compatibility_List here for known issues with legacy games and what to do and if that still fails to work
    3. Check your HDD for bad sectors and the like to see if the installation was done on bad areas in the drive and finally
    4. Change the settings on Vista UAC until a stable combination is found.
