Personally... I think I'm gonna play this game because the next games I plan to play are StarCraft II, Diablo III and Red Alert 3.. Since these doesn't have announced date.. they probably aren't going to be release before November.. so I think I'm gonna buy Spore in September
-
I'm still undecided...I haven't read too much into it, I confess, but yeah. I'm waiting for Starcraft II and Red Alert 3 as well!
-
My sister will come and stab me in my sleep if I don't get it for her....
-
Judging from the number of user-created creatures from the previous demo release, it seems A LOT of people will be getting this game regardless of competition.
-
I'm going to buy Spore, Starcraft II, and Red Alert III to complement homework in college!
-
ill probably give in and buy it but not till after the initial reviews come out. I'm a bit apprehensive cuz I was not a fan of the Sims and the same guy who developed it is doing Spore.
-
Spore is on my to buy list...also:
Red Alert 3
World In Conflict Soviet Assault
Sins of a Solar Empire expansion....whenever that comes out.
Baja(360)
Madden 09(360)
Gears of War 2(360)
The last update I saw on a release date for RA3 said October, but I'm sure that's not set in stone. -
SC2 and RA3 don't interest me at all........i will buy spore..........looks like it would keep me entertained for a while.
-
FusiveResonance Notebook Evangelist
gonna wait til it hits torrents.
but lets pretend i didnt say that. right..ill pay for this game if i like it. really. i promise -
I'm definitely getting it no matter what other games are out
-
I dont understand Spore....isnt it a childsplay game? where you create little "cute" monsters to dance infront of you?
atleast thats what i read on the box
-
I'm in the same position
-
You saw the Spore Creature Creator. Spore isn't out yet. Spore is going to be a simulation in the vein of Will Wright's old games like SimEarth. You start with a single cell creature and take it all the way through interstellar empire. The creature creator is just a tool to make creatures that will be used during a few phases of the game to populate the worlds with other species.
And yes, I will definitely buy Spore. As to the "I don't like the Sims so I won't buy it" comment, keep in mind that Wright made many many much more complex and very highly regarded games before The Sims. For instance, SimCity, SimIsle, SimAnt, SimEarth... -
gonna wait til you get banned form the forums
-
wait for it.........wait for it.................... BAM......down comes the ban hammer.
i guess i'll probably play with the demo a bit first to make sure i like it. -
lol and yea thats my plan. I can't see it being bad tho. The creature creator even was awesome.
-
out of interest.....why aren't you a senior member yet?
-
Hey Jeff, when did you get the honorable Notebook Retard status?!
I'm still writing the NBR themesong... -
its an exclusive group......i am accepting applications now.
-
I will. Unfortunately, I'm not quite looking forward to seeing all the user created genitalia -oriented races online.
-
don't worry all the parents of kids will get angry and revolt and it will get a M rating
-
To me Spore looks incredibly stupid and boring. If people have fun with it, great for them.
-
you will never know till it's out
-
me? I have no idea lol
-
Let me guess. You like.... Halo?
-
Way to make sweeping generalizations. People who have seen me post in here know some of the games I like, not gonna dignify an insulting question with an answer.
-
I'm gonna have to get Hello Kittie Cutie World!! Screw Spore...
-
I heard they're using the UT3 engine.
Sweet. -
Hellz yea!! See Hello Kitty rendered like Marcus Fenix would be awesome
-
Hopefully the online community will grow.
I'm tired of being the only Level 70 Kitty... -
Does it have giant robots?
-
At level 70, don't you get long range fur-ball launching capabilities with added damage to any surrounding enemies?
-
So your not in to instant gratification games? But you are willing to make decisions about a game from a few screenshots and what amounts to a pretty development tool. I'm basing my decisions past performance of the developer. I think The Sims was an unfortunate outcome, but I still have faith that Wright can do good games.
-
All of that, plus Deadric Armor.
-
Highlight me! -
^^^^Nice!!
-
I hope so. But if Spore comes out wrong, I won't buy his next game so quickly. Of course, it is stupid to buy things based upon the past history of the maker. I never buy a book from an author who I have liked 95% of the previous books he wrote.
-
The concept of the game is untried and untested, so a wait and see approach would be best for those sitting on the fence . Will Wright has a positive reputation for past games behind him so no harm giving his latest creation a chance.
-
Hell yeah I'm going to get it. Have you guys seen the latest E3 demos?

When exactly does this release anyway ? My college starts in a few weeks. No way I can get it after that....
-
I was looking forward to Spore since I heard about it a couple years ago and I was about to pre-order the Galactic Edition until I found out that they were going to use Securom. It was initially going to have the same type of disc checking as Mass Effect where it would be mandatory to connect to their servers every 10 days to make sure you are the rightful owner of that copy. After some outcry they changed it to a 3 install limit. I can't confirm it, but people are saying (based on their experience with Mass Effect) that after your 3 installs are out, you'll have to email or call a non-toll free number. Emailing can take as far as 6 weeks to get even just 1 extra install allotment and calling might cost you the same amount as getting another copy of the game.
Each install is triggered whenever you install it on a system with a different configuration or if you reformat windows and reinstall. Uninstalling the game beforehand doesn't give you back an installation either like BioShock.
They have the same copy protection implemented with the Creature Creator. If I had known earlier, I wouldn't even have bought that. apparently that bit of information was part of the EULA. Shoulda read that before buying it. Anyway, unless they get rid of the retarded DRM, I won't be buying it anymore. That crap just doesn't fly with me and I can't believe I broke my EA boycott for this... -
^^ I don't know why everybody's making such a big deal about DRM stuff.
You can always buy the damn thing, and then crack it. Simple as that. As long as you've bought the copy you'll have that warm fuzzy feeling inside, and with the crack, you've done with all the install restrictions, DRM and other stuff
That's exactly how I did with Bioshock and Mass Effect. I've had to reinstall Bioshock about 3-4 times when I was experimenting with 32/64bit OSs and then played it, uninstalled it, remembered I had the DVD, installed it again, and agan.
No issues what-so-ever.
Same goes with Mass Effect. I have the box, but I work on a Cruise Ship, and we can't afford to stay online to play a game just so it can call home. Bought it, cracked it. Happy man I am

I'll wait for feedback on it, I dont like the idea of just a sims type game much. If you could fight other users creatures then it would have 10x more interest for me.
-
I agree Vicious. That would make it better. I like to play games, not sit and watch them play themselves. I was never able to get into the Sims or any of the similar spin offs. Too boring.

Yeah, well thing is if you can lvl up and get stronger and fight others it at least gives you a point to put work and time into the game so you can crush the competition. and if the game gives you no reason if its just for the sake of doing it aka SIMS, I feel its a waist of time and would rather be doing real life than simulating life
-
Quote from Wiki
My guess is you're going to be crushing galaxies worth of genitalia based creatures.
-
Thanks for the visual...
-
I am definitely looking forward to getting Spore. Even though it is being released on other platforms, I feel that Spore would be best played on a PC. I can't wait until it comes out though. I'm always interested in games that lets you use your creativeness. Plus it's an interesting concept.
-
Here's a picture to go with it. Hopefully, Buckley won't mind the link.
