First of all, thanks for taking time to read this. As my username suggests, I am a complete noob to this forum and PC graphics.
So, I'm running the newest MacBook Pro with a fresh install of Boot Camp and Windows XP SP2, card is 8600m GT with 128 GDDR3 memory. Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz. 2GB RAM. 5400rpm hard drive. Forceware 163.14 drivers.
I set the Nvidia control panel settings to stay on quality all the way on the slider.
I just rebooted and ran 3DMark06 and my score is 2136. I've seen other scores in the 3300 range for this card and was wondering what I'm missing!
Thanks very much for the help of anybody that responds.

And what is the score?
-
Why don't you post your scores?
-
Sorry guys, I'm using the beta of Safari and it zarked my post to only half of what I typed! Edited.
-
driver version maybe????
-
maybe because you set all the panel settings all the way to the quality side?
-
is that driver uncool?

Try downloading RivaTuner, and check to see how wide the memory bus is. If it is not 128bits wide then that accounts for the score.
-
tell you what, before i went into the panel i was getting 946 in 3DMark06. That was due to the Nvidia PowerMizer working its magic.

1st off, 3dmark scores dont mean a thing. your preformance in games will not change one bit.
2nd off, Macs tend to be underclocked, i dont know what they did with the new Mac Books, but the ones with the X1600 were clocked to the preformance of the X1400 or lower. So check those clocks for me. then we can go from there. -
Okay, downloaded RivaTuner. Memory bus is 128-bit.
Graphics subsystem diagnostic report:
$0100000100 Core clock domain 0 : 405.000MHz
$0100000101 Core clock domain 1 : 810.000MHz
$0100000006 Memory clock : 504.000MHz (1008.000MHz effective)
$0100000007 Reference clock : 27.000MHz
Do you mean that if I increase my 3DMark06 score that my performance in games will not increase?
Why am I getting such low scores on 3DMark06?
