Why are pc gamers hated on?

They hate on us because we can still kick their butts even on the consoles while they still suck at playing PC games. Last time I went over to a friends house, we played some COD4 on his 360 and I routinely ended up getting good scores. Simply put: we are trained like ninjas in all kinds of video games.

 

I'm probably older than you, but I digress. In any case, feel free to add your two cents to a gaming thread in which you don't play games.

 

I have the wii, psp (the 1001 version ), the nintendo ds, and two very fast computers. I find myself on the computer than I do my wii or other consols. At one point I had the gamecube, but that got boring fast. I am very much a PC gamer, and always will be.

 

Just a suggestion... you might try actually reading through the posts, and then not make sweeping generalizations about us. I don't believe console gamers "hate" me. And not only have *the rest of us* not all been thinking up ridiculous reasons, but some have even said the same thing you're repeating.

Well basically , Console gamers are poor ppl who use nonsence to play while we pc gamers are the superior "race".... So they're jealous of us...

Apparently I didn't get my point across in the first thread lol. Its not so much hate as not being taken seriously. In school someone will ask if I have a ps3 or 360. I answer computer and they laugh. Many people seem to think that the computer is not something capable of gaming past pong

 

Hahaha this is so true. I recently went over to a friend's house and one of the guys was playing some COD:WAW for Wii (with the whole gun setup too). I picked it up and started playing for about a half hour, when my one friend is like, "s***, he got further then any of us ever did!". I've also had the same experience as you Karma, with COD4 on the 360.

 

Dude don't knock the l337 gun set up! I heard that using the gun set up increases your pwnage rate by 93.481375 percent! And it makes you look uber cool while doing it!

 

Actually your Xbox doesn't play all games maxed out...

 

Xbox and PS3 offer great graphic and FPS for the price, Some games also look better on consoles in my opinion.

 

To add to that, I can make a game look better on an iPhone than on a PC if I so choose - it's not so much a measure of capability, just developer focus.

It's for that reason I'd say it's the other way around, we aren't hated on as nearly as we hate on console gamers for up our developers. As for "hating" in general, console gamers don't have the semblance or community to even generate collective hate like we PC gamers can.

 

Lol I wasn't hating on it at all. It was a fun throwback to time crisis (which, by the way, when I'm rich, I will purchase a full arcade version of every Time Crisis game). The button scheme is pretty terrible though, I'll admit that, it's too cumbersome to do certain things that should be easy. Also, it wasn't calibrated very well, it didn't quite aim where I was pointing it, but I was sitting at an angle... So no, not nearly as good as it should be, but fun for it's purpose. I wouldn't spend hundreds of dollars for a Wii, that game and the gun though (LOL!)

Yes that's the thing, console gamers think they are such amazing gamers when all they did was buy a packaged low-end generations behind (graphics wise) technology boxes that were way overpriced.

 

You forget that consoles are amde for gaming, which explains why the ps3 with an nvidia 7 series is more powerfull that an nvidia 8 and some nvidia 9 series on desktops.
As I said before in this thread, every hardware machine, wether a gaming console, handheld, laptop or desktop has its pro's and con's.
The biggest upside of consoles is that they can play new games for a period of about 5-6 years. Eventhough the graphics hardly improve, the newest games still remain playable, while especially laptop gamers have the awesome 'mobility' advantage, but playing the newest games will be pushing it after already 2 years.

 

I call BS on that. Any decent desktop card can beat a console easily, it's about the games being optimized for one piece of hardware when it comes to consoles, whereas PC is harder because of the near infinite combinations of hardware and other things. The developers can really push it with a console when they know that they only have to work with one piece of hardware.

 

I don't know what a BS call means, but your making the same point as I did, the ps3 performs better because it doesn't have to run a heavy system like windows for example, and can squeeze more out of the same graphic card.

 

The reason I said that is because really, any GeForce 8 or 9 series is going to be better.

seriously... PC gamers are much more skilled and since we can choose your weapon..i.e the mouse....we can kill easily on First-person shooter games.

Well if this is true for dekstops thats sure a disapontment towards sony. My laptop 8 series isn't that bad but is still worse than the ps3 though. I guess the consoles last way longer than laptops, but that is less true for dekstops then.

 

Eh, pretty good compared to the 8600 GTS that I'm packing.

My desktop is begging for a GPU upgrade, pity it's prone to braking when you open the case.

Suppose if I had a playstation and had to install linux on it, drivers (do they even exist?), then vmware + windows or wine, then [insert your favourite game] with mods, I'd hate anyone if after doing all of that it wouldn't work.

I am a console gamer (ps3) and I only play MMO on PCs.
I can give you the answer to your question.
I hate the PC gamers because they can get all their games 4 free, while I have to save up, and now with tons of amazing games, I have to rent most of them and rush through single and not enjoying them much. Also, WHY THE HELL would activision give you the cod mappacks for FREE while I had to pay 10 euros for EACH one of them.

After moving from a Sega Genesis to PC gaming and playing Fallout 1, the real one, I never looked back !

you mean you still fail to grasp the point after that? Maybe it's my pseudocode, so I'll spell it out in plain english: because a game looks better on platform X doesn't necessarily mean platform X is better.

 

That's nice. I can agree with that statement at least, why didn't you say that in the first place.

 

Activision isn't giving us anything. Activivsion has screwed us over.

And we don't get all our games for free. Granted, PC games are less expensive than console games (Not where I live) generally, they still aren't free.

 

There's one thing I never really understood in these comparisons of price, because for PC gaming, MOST people will buy a $90-$180 LCD screen with a nice resolution, and console gamers ALWAYS count this in on the PC's total price, while console gamers usually have it hooked up to a TV, or HDTV costing in the $600-$3000 range. Generally speaking, most PC gamers actually spend less. (Not to say you can't hook up any PC to an HDTV and run every game (in FULL 1080P unlike the console), nor that you can't run a console on a PC monitor through an HDMI cable, or an adaptor from HDMI-DVI, but generally people don't.)

 

I take the easy way out and hook my 360 up to my pcs monitor with a dvi cable

 

it's because they are ignorant. They don't know what they are talking about, in the way of PC games, they have no idea. Most people hate or are hesitant about things they don't have knowledge of.
