I just got my laptop a few weeks ago and I already am OWNING at online games. Like literally beating my friends down and getting 1st or top half of scoreboards. I've generally had computers but never one capable of playing anything remotely good. How is it possible that I developed these amazing PC gaming skills in a couple weeks? I'm just curious because playing PC games is WAY different than using a controller on a console.

I think the obvious answer is that your friends are a bunch of baddies.

For FPSes it translates well. I played competitively on console and I am good on pc. It has less to do with aiming and gun skill and more to do with knowing where to go, when, and where other people should be.

Don't worry too much. You'll get your a** handed to you eventually. Everyone has good streaks and bad. Your good streak just happened to start when you started playing PC games (aka beginners luck). Sometimes a fresh set of eyes and skills can easily translate into adept power.

But don't let that fool ya, everyone has a bad round eventually...and just gets slaughtered because they're tired, or too anxious, or have other things on their minds.

You're working with the same tactical skillset that you used on your console, just with a different control scheme. As long as you can pick up and hone your ability with mouse and keyboard you should fare just as well as you did on a console. It seems that you've picked the controls up so your other skills and instincts are covering the rest.

Anyway, welcome to the side of electronic gaming that might actually inspire you to pick up some skills that will be marketable in a future workplace. Anyone can pick up a controller and go, but when you've got to figure out why your game won't install/doesn't play sounds/suffers graphical glitches that may actually lead to *gasp* research and problem-solving. Cheers.
