Why does catalyst drivers suck at gaming so much.

sorry that i have no caps but im getting a loss of 20-15 FPS when im switching from omega to catalyst also my 3dmark scores drop significantly
anyone knows how to fix it

ati x1600 128mb, 64-bit edition(bus bandwith)

hm strange
I have no issues with catalysts. I have installed 7.8 yesterday. Runs smooth.
I haven't benchmarked it yet. I will and report.

I use vista 32 bit.

I have no omegas on my system, but my former results were quite good on x1600 256MB

3dmark05 3,895 at 425/375 (default speeds)
3dmark06 1,640 at 425/375 (default speeds)

This was with catalyst 7.2.

Now I am doing 7.8 tests

well 3dmark05 with 7.8 gives me 3923 at 425/375
edit: 3dmark06 and 7.8 gives 1711 which is again better

had you ever tried omega i get almost same scores 1549 as you with 464/445(oc) eventhough my gpu specs are half of yours 128mb ram dedicated with 64bit busbandwith.

i dont know which version of catalyst i have since when i click about i get thousands of numbers and it states something like v. 1.148.38867

What omegas do you use? Latest. I can try tomorrow. But it seems that my scores are quite fast according to Orb. Damn I wish omega makes it even faster.
