Why hasn't this type of game been created?

I've been looking for something that's similar to the mod, LCPDFR, for grand theft auto, but I can't seem to find any good police simulators. Why isn't there a game that puts you in the shoes of a police officer and lets you drive around and receive dispatch calls and stop cars for speeding, etc.

The closest I ever saw was True Crime LA, but it was an extremely flawed game. I agree, I've been waiting for something like this forever.

It sounds like you are describing an old Taito game, Chase HQ and Ray Tracer. I agree though, I would love to see a game like that modernized. There's a car MMO called Drift City that is pretty close to that as well.

I was thinking the same thing, but I've never played them much so I couldn't suggest the series in earnest. Either way, OP will be looking for something more modern - it's not really a "why hasn't it been made" question, but a "why don't I have a modern game like this".
