I mean, each card should have it's own temp, so why is it hotter overall in SLI than in single card mode?
-
because the heat has to exit somehow and running 2 increases the case temp overall which will also make the cards naturally run hotter.
-
This is just pure common sense...
Usually you dont have 2 of everything when you run SLI
Exhaust is usually a single one for SLI and stuff... and if you have to cards next to eachother they retain more heat and stuff
Everything isnt proportional in this world... like the Buggatti Veyron, 1001HP, only needs 400HP to go up to 200MPH or whatever and then another 600HP just to go an extra 50MPH because of wind resistance -
You would think this is obvious. Two cards next to each other versus one card having that space to itself.................
I worry about today's youth. -

Lol calm down he didnt know
In reality to be honest SLI isnt that much hotter then a single card if not at all, the reason being SLI notebooks have more areas in the body where the heat can escape. Look at the new asus W90 that's a crossfire notebooks but still it has tons of fans and a couple of exits so basically in typical use it wont really be hot. So i guess there are many scenarios to look at, good luck -
Double the heat.

Same reason two hot asian chicks next to each other is hotter than one.

This may be one of the sadest threads i've seen...
We should sticky itor at least keep it alive for a while

lol that thread was ridiculous!

Consider 2 identical rooms, one with one radiator, the other with two.
Simple enough -
You do have a lot of questions I must say. I have an XPS M1730 myself, can´t say mine gets hot when running SLI. It´s obvious it gets hotter when two GPU´s are working compared to one idling and one working.
-
-
The fastest thing to check is your GPU clocks, if you're overclocking already and whining about overheating video cards then the obvious thing is to lower the overclock to something manageable.
Next is to clean out the dust in your fans or invest in a notebook cooler. -
-
I just have two lego duplo pieces holding mine up
-
I couldn't find it before.
-
Another factor behind high GPU temperatures could be poorly designed or faulty heatsinks. I have a relative with a XPS M1210 (2nd edition) which gets really hot even doing mundane tasks thanks to misaligned heatsinks. -
Tell it how it is. -

Why do I get the feeling I'm on a new version of the show Punked where they prank people on forums instead of TV after reading these two threads (this one and the CPU "thermal" paste.....

Amen to that.

Why is SLI hotter than a single card?
