The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. @ the mods ...

why is every question moved into here, when it doesnt have to be? there are some very specific questions that are asking for very specific details and they are still moved into that thread? why? and when you click on the thread thats been moved/merged it takes you to post one of the thread and not the specific query itself, and that thread is a monster, its over 250 pages long, with replies to specific questions sometimes tens of pages apart...

isnt it about time it was weeded out?

a question about putting the signal through HDMI was put in there, as was a question about a specific chipsets performance, both of them where completely unrelated, yet they where bundled into this thread, which is in danger of consuming this entire section, so everything just gets puts in there!

sorry if this rubs people up the wrong way, and i know the mods do a great job in here ...

but this really is something that needs addressed

    thanks

    :)

Well one thing is that the forums would be "organized" in my opinion

are you talking about "*The Official "Can My Notebook Run It?" Thread* -Ask about your notebook here"?
I, as a user, don't wanna see newbie questions all over the first page.
ps. this thread should belongs to Site Suggestions, Help and Announcements section

nope, thats not what i am talking about at all.

but raises another issue. isnt this place here to discuss and help people? we where all n00bs once, and i think a n00b having his quesiton moved into that thread and asking a question might get very confused.

    n00bs are users to

    ;)

Most of the stuff moved there is in the form of "What's better? A or B?". I didn't see the HDMI question you were referring to, but the "What's better" questions do clog up the front page.

What he means is, the forums are more organized because they are moved into that thread. :)

i would think its more dis-organized.

one monster thread, for all GPU types and variants? why not do away with this particular forum and have everything asked in that thread

There's one thread for the "What's better" questions, one for the "What can I run" questions, one for the "Can I upgrade" questions, and one for the "Upgrade Drivers" questions. Why? Because they've all been asked too many damn times.

Because then we'd need to have many threads whereas this is just one thread.

ok i hear you, i can hear that as a mod your fed up of seeing those Q's ..

but even Q's like "whats the difference between DDR2 and DDR3" would get moved in there.

i am not playing devils Advocate, i just think it become a bit of a joke, a thread with "mehhhh, i dunno shove it in there" now has over one million hits, and over 2,500 replies ....

I know what exactly you are talking about, and I agree that "we were all noobs once". thing is tho, there are newbies who know how to utilize google and newbies who expect to be spoon-feed. As you see we have lot of pro/semi-pro discussion threads and information threads added everyday, and the last thing i want to see is their position being take over by something like "can my X3100 run crysis" or "how do I connect my laptop to TV".

That's because the question usually is "What's better? The ATI 36GagillionPU DDR85 or nVidia BSuber12 GDDR7?".

If people actually bothered to read the stickies, they'd find that the question is already answered in the FAQ section.

the questions are easily answered in the stickies, and i agrere we were all noobs once but people need to learn to start using the stickies cause they are very informative.

The moderators and site administrators politely remind all of us (newbie or otherwise) to always read the stickied threads in every forum, there's obviously plenty of reasons behind this and one of them in particular is due to the number of times the same question is asked on a forum when the answer could easily be solved just by looking through the stickied threads.
