I've just received my 1530, did a clean install of Vista, updated to 169.28 drivers and whacked in far Cry......only to find the the video settings were auto detecting to low......I upped them to high and all I get is a white/blue haze thats unplayable......even on medium I get the same thing
Any ideas why?

Just to add.......it even happens on low settings........somethings quite obviously fubar here......

Have you updated to the official Far Cry 1.4 patch from Ubi? ( http://www.ubi.com/US/Downloads/Info.aspx?dlId=691)
If that didn't work, you might want to try the unofficial 1.33 patch ( http://www.gamershell.com/news/30566.html)
If that still doesn't work, you might want to try switching off HDR. Far Cry is known to have issues with its HDR. -
Cheers for that, I've downloaded and installed the patch and at least now I can see whats going on although the graphics look far to bright and almost washed out (for instance the tunnel bit right at the start is really bright and looks cack)
Whats HDR? -
HDR stands for High Dynamic Range Rendering. It's an advanced graphics option in Far Cry. If your graphics are too bright, chances are you should disable HDR from the graphics settings menu.

Navigate to \Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry and open System.cfg in a text editor.
Find the line that says: r_Driver. If the word behind it is Direct3D9, try changing it to OpenGL and vice versa.
To disable HDR, find the line that says: r_HDRRendering, and make sure the number that follows it is 0 (zero). If it is already on 0, change it to any number between 1 and 11. Experiment around.
If, after tweaking those things and changing around in-game graphics settings still don't solve your problems, then what graphics card are you using? -
Far Cry is incompatible with Pixel Shader 3.0 or higher graphics cards, and you need to patch it to the latest version. That should just about do it.

Right, i changed the driver to 174.12 and all seems to running fantastic....thanks all for all your help
BTW im running an 8600M GT. -
Still you've got to give credit to ubi for keeping the game alive. Most companies don't care when a games is a year old. They stop making patches and stuff for it. Ubi still added a lot to the game even after so many years. (For a game that is).
