You know the the thing in vista thats gives your system a score.

    Well heres my scores

    Processor-4.8

    Ram- 4.5

    Graphics-4.7

    Gaming graphics-5.3

    Primary hard disk- 5.3

why is my ram the lowest I thought it would be one of my laptops strong points because vista 32 bit can only utilize 3Gb of ram.

Could some one clear my confusion?

Does it really matter what WEI says ? :D

Anyway, I guess it has something to do with the Memory/FSB Bandwidth, and the Memory frequency.

High FSB + High memory frequency + Large memory size = Good WEI Score !! :p

    I got a 5.9 with 2x1GB DDR2-533 [IMG]

OK, let me make it easier for you.

3GB DDR3-1600 will score more than 3GB DDR2-667....(DDR2-667 is not the fastest RAM, that Vista has seen)

Use PCMark or SiSandra for benchmarking the memory....('Cause WEI sux)

wei does suck but the reason why your ram is at 4.5 is because of two reason
    1. your cpu fsb is bottle necked (meaning you cpu is hold the ram back)
    2. ram speed (mostly the first)

i have the same score for my ram 4.5 but if i were to put it in a amd turion(even though the c2d is faster) the amd "hypertransport" is alot faster at carrying the data from the ram to the cpu the intel's "fsb". but amd's cpu overall is crap. as in how much watts you get and how much it puts out.

this why amd decided long along to move from the fsb to hypertransport.
and intel is going to move from fsb and go to (i forgot what it is called i think "quick connect") because of the slow fsb.

i know it sounded confusing and i repeated myself alot but i was trying to get the point across quickly

edit: intel's new c2d and the t7 series and t9 fsb is at 800-1066fsb meaning the the ram can "show its colors"

thus getting a high wei score

edit again: i stick my old ram in my aunt's laptop (2gb of ddr2 667fsb) and she got a score of 5.4 and the cpu got 4.9
    she has a amd 1.9ghz
    meanwhile i got 4.5
    my specs below

Do not use WEI as a benchmark, I've seen worst spec than mine getting better score with it.

WEI is a noob's benchmarking tool. Get yourself 3dMark. It is free.

    WEI = What ever Index

It's designed for the moms and pops of the computing world who want to know if Solitaire will run on their system.

    Like surfasb suggested get 3DMark.

Yup that the Ram index seems to be totally random(to an extent). I have a 8600m Gt GDDR2 installed and my current ram index is 5.9... when I swapped my card for a Mobility HD3650 it dropped all the way to 4.8... I didn't trust wei before but that sealed my total distrust on it.

Trusting Microsoft with benchmarks is kinda like trusting Michael Jackson with your kids.
