    Hello!
I got my compal FL90 yesterday. I have installed xp sp2 on it and everything is working as intended, but every time i install the display drivers for the 8600m gt my harddisk starts to act strangely. After windows loads everything on the startup and the system stays idle the harddisk keeps working on something - the hd indicator is blinking in every second that it is working and it is driving me insane.
I have a feeling that it is repeating some kind of short process forever. I have tried to reinstall the windows several times and experimented with more drivers like the 167.26, 163.76, 163.75 but i always get the same result. I am 100 percent sure that this is the video drivers fault beacuse if i dont have it installed i dont encounter this problem. I have also switched off every service
which can stress the hd (automatic defragmentation, disk indexing, etc). BTW all these drivers are using the newest modded inf from laptopvideo - can this be some problem with the modded inf or is this normal behaviour from a modded driver? Otherwise the graphic card is working well, i tested it with some games yesterday. Any suggestions what should i do?
(if i use the original driver from my driver cd i dont have this problem but of course i need a newer one for optimal performance)

Does the same issue happen in safemode? Also, what does the Task Manager show? Does the Event Viewer show anything strange?

I would suggest doing a clean uninstall of drivers before reinstalling the ones from laptopvideo2go.

Thank you for the reply. I finally managed to solve the problem. It was the nvidia display windows service which caused the problem. According to some tweaking guides the driver should work well without it. I switched it off and the situation is much better now...the harddisk is working only occasionally when the system is idle, what is acceptable for me and games are also working.
