    Why isn't there an Ati 2900 mobile card?

    I remember the Ati Radeon 2900XT was a very good desktop card but why didnt they make it mobile? Why did they stop at mid range 2600XT?

    Because it was power-hungry and weak.

    Yep, the desktop 2900XT was sucky and short-lived. The 3870 blew it away.

    It was very good right when it came out, but that's it. It was a huge power hungry beast that didn't warrant all that power usage for the performance it pumped out. I know, because I've owned one and promptly sold it as soon as the 9800GX2 came out :)
