Ive just purchased doom3 and god am i dissapointed.
It wont work on my new laptop that i bought last week.

It will run the game but the graphics are terrible and thats an understatment. And on top of the it runs really slow and tends to jump about.

I'll do my best to give a system description here.

OS Name - Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium

    Version - 6.0.6000 Build 6000

    System Manufacturer - Dell Inc.

    System Model - Vostro 1000

    Processor - AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-57, 1900 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)

Total Physical Memory - 1,917.44 MB

Available Physical Memory - 874.28 MB

Total Virtual Memory - 3.96 GB

Available Virtual Memory - 2.55 GB

Page File Space - 2.17 GB

    Memory(RAM) - 1918mb

Graphics - ATI Radeon Xpress 1150

I dont know what else to post, but just tell me what other info you need and i'll get it.

I really thought this laptop would run Doom, it seems to have the hardware but i dunno what im doing wrong. Im obviously a noob lol

thats ur problem, this card is very very weak. If you however want to play set everything to lowest possible settings and 640x480 res, update ur drivers and pray.

yeah its your gpu yikes its way to slow. If you just got your laptop just return it if you want to play any computer games. Try to get a laptop with a Geforce 8400GS thats the bare minium for a good gaming experince but try to get the Gefore 8600GT it will run older games and many newer just fine!! Agin if you want to play games like doom 3 your going to need a better graphics card!

If your focus was to play games on your laptop you bought the wrong one. You need a much better graphics card than that. Sadly you cannot just swap it out for a better one on a laptop. So either get a another laptop or play on lowest settings as mentioned.

You hit it right on the head...

The GPU is too weak. And it cannot be upgraded.

Agree with other posters. You bought the wrong notebook. That one simply won't game.
