Hello!
I am at this moment trying do decide a notebook, and has cut down my options to either an xps1330 (8400m gs) or an xps1530 (8600m gt. I'm not really sure yet, mainly because i do value portability, but i don't really know wether i will be gaming or not. I dont really play games on my current pc, but i think that's because i can't... my computer really sucks.
However, assume i do will game. How will the 8400m gs respectivly 8600m gt perform in the following games:
Stalker
Half life 2 (ep1 & 2)
Crysis
Gta 3
I don't really care about settings etc, but i'd like to know in wich settings i will be able to play with those cards.
My current pc has:
AMD sempron 2800+
1gb ram
Geforce 6600 (non gt).
How much better/worse are those lappys? I will choose the t7250 c2d processor and 2gb ram.
Excuse my poor english, theese kind of texts are kindda hard to write since im from sweden, so please ask if there is anything you don't understand!
EDIT: Noticed i spelled the topic wrong.

The 8600M GT will play those games very well. Stalker should work med high, Crysis med-high details at 1280x 800...
The 2.0 cpu is ENOUGH for any game right now. I really recommend the 8600M GT over the 8400 since it`s more than twice as powerful and will last you some 2 more years at least.(in terms of gaming capabilities) -
Okey =). So, i assume it will be a lot better than my 6600. But what about the 8400m gs?

Ok dude.Pretty much any card from nvidia has a GT and GS version.
GT=higher spec`ed card,
GS=lower version(mostly crappy). -

the 8400 GS would work nice if u dont care sbout settings and throw Crysis out of the window. On stalker you can almost max details with the 8400. i use a x3100 which is much worse and i can even play stalker
i would get the GS for moderate gaming. -

By not long, that means 4-5 months
8600M GT ....get it while u can. -

the 8400 GS can last at least a year. not 5 months.

+1 for 8600

Yeah, i knew it was a lot better before, i just did not know how much...
But the question remains, how much better are both cards than my current one? -
your 6600 series card came out in 2004. the 8600 that you should get is about 3 years older than that. definitely get the 8600 m gt and you probably won't worry if your system can handle any future games for at least 2years. good luck!
Wich card
