Keep in mind I'm leaning toward Xbox 360, I already have a hd-dvd addon, which is great but no way to play it on tvs... Only a pc...
And if I get Xbox 360, do I really NEED premium? Alot will say yes, but hear me out.
1: I can use a usb 2.0 hdd hard drive as a hard drive using a trick, it won't work with marketplace games, but I have quite a few old games and honestly don't care about windows marketplace.
2: I need a wired controller, don't really care for a wireless (Not anal about wire clutter). The 'basic' Xbox 360 would give me a wired controller.
3: Don't really care for wireless, as I don't play very many games only in the first place. Unless someone tells me I NEED to be online ala steam, I play all 1 player games, or games with my friends. If worse comes to worst and I need to connect online to download new updates, I can bring it downstairs to the router, connect it to the router and the tv, update it, then bring it back upstairs.
All of the extras the premium has I don't really need. I'm leaning toward the Xbox and high def, but not really toward the premium. What do you think? I'd like your opinions.
Oh, I should explain... I had a Wii, decided I liked money better, and sold it. Still have the componenet cables. I'd like to get one and actually use it, but only twilight princess interests me at the moment, and I beat that.
Definately will be all over it when Metroid Prime 3 comes out... Err, when does it come out again?

The premium version doesn't come with the wireless adaptor either way - it's going to cost you an extra $100 if you do want to add wifi.
Personally the convenience factor of not having to hook up the router, etc. makes the wifi adaptor worth it, in my opinion.
Online is a big part of what I like about the Xbox 360 though; even if you don't play multiplayer games, etc. (although I think this is the best part of games like Project Gotham Racing 3, etc.), it is still nice for downloading demos, patches, Xbox Live Arcade games, etc.
If you really don't need the stuff in the premium package, and it sounds like you don't if you don't care about a wireless controller or having the hard drive, you should be fine. You can always buy an xbox 360 hard drive add-on later if you want to (I like having the hard drive snapped into the xbox itself, rather than plugged in through USB anyway).
Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy are both due later this year, but I don't recall the exact dates. -
Don't care for Xbox Live arcade games, or demos.
I do care for patches, and I would periodically attach it to the router to do so. It's not a huge chore, I'd only do it when a new update is avilable. -
wii's for kids, and it has absolutely no chance against the 360, or even the ps3, and the reason it sold so much, is because poeple liked its design and the controller, and thought it was pretty cheap, while it's pretty expensive, when compared to the 360, especially when considering the huge difference in power between the two. zellio, BTW you're not the fist to sell his wi, as a friend of mine also sold his two weeks ago, he was very dissappointed by the graphics and the lack of good games. i guess that most people who bought a wi know nothing about wi's lack of power, and were simply fooled by the media. and did you notice that apart from mario:galaxies and MP3, no good titles are coming to the wii, while the 360 will be getting halo3, mass effect, GTA4, U3 and bioshock. my point is, the 360 is the only console that's worth getting right now,and i'll buy one when halo3 is out.

Why is the Wii for kids? Because it doesn't have as much gore? When did blood and guts become an "adult" thing? Maybe teenage, but definitely not adult. The Wii is great for a) people who don't have lots of experience with video games and b) people (like me) who want to be able to have short gaming sessions because we have real lives. It's not worth it to me to sit down and play through Halo, but my girlfriend and I can pick up the Wii and play a few games of tennis or something, without having to level or put in all kinds of time learning the controls for the games.
If you want games like Halo or Gears of War just like you play on your PC and just like you've seen for the last 8 years except with a few more graphical goodies, go with the 360. If you want a fun cross-section of games that anyone can play with actual innovation and unique and new gameplay, get a Wii. The Wii is an awesome system conceptually and technologically, but not meant to go head-to-head for the types of people who'd play a PS3 or XBox360. It's not a graphical powerhouse like they are. Basically, the 360 and PS3 are for frat guys and people who play too many video games and want to watch explosions and blood realistically splatter, and the Wii is for everyone else. IMNSHO. -

I love my Wii.
People at work all bought X boxes for their kids at christmas. And for some reason they always want me to bring my wii to team parties... because it's a ton of fun.
Shrug, I can't stand xbox or ps3. -

I have one complaint about the Wii. It lacks online games. I think the next Zelda should be an online RPG.
EDIT: Most XBOX 360 games are available on PC. Oblivion is one. -
I say go with the Wii because of the great game play and you can also download all the old Nintendo & Sega Genesis classics. As for the Xbox, you can pretty much buy all the Xbox games for PC so why bother? Dont get me wrong I like Xbox and PS3 and I've owned all the consoles but theres something about the Wii that keeps you playing for hours without getting boring.
Oh yeah and another thing although the Wii might lack in graphics the gameplay makes up for it. For example World of Warcraft, that game has lame graphics but the gameplay is so awesome everyone cant stop playing it. All my friends are soo addicted to that game, its the only thing they talk about. -
Give me a break. People get too hung up on labels and categories.
If you enjoy the games the Wii has, who cares about the rest?
Also, who cares about the graphics? If a game is fun, it's fun.
Does Resident Evil 4 suddenly have less merit because it's "previous gen" graphics?
For that matter, does Castlevania: Symphony of the Night have less merit because it's a PSX game?

Hah... you wont get the fantastic experience of playing Raving Rabbids on the wii.. Thou the Wii has less games, but even within this little library you ll find something to enjoy.. Wii are for party ppl, PS3/X360 are for loners, who spent like 24/7 playing on it.. (sorry, i only meant to bash 1 ppl...

True gamers : Human that play games alone forever... -
And the games that matter on each platform are the exclusive ones......... even for those Xbox 360 games you can buy on a PC as well, there are various reasons that isn't always an option (personally my PC is a bit out of date, so some of those PC/Xbox 360 games don't run all that well on my PC).
On my xbox 360 besides that though, there are plenty of games I have that are console exclusive (Gears of War, Crackdown, DOA4, PGR3, etc.).
I think the Wii does have its merits, but it does still seem best perhaps as a second console combined with an Xbox 360 or PS3, so more of your bases are covered.

Anyone else noticed how the wii's controllers aren't sensitive enough? That boxing game comes to mind. I was able to put in a few punches before my character punched once.
I also find it absurd how a 'flick' of the wrist is usually more powerful than a full out swing of the arm (the golfing game comes to mind).
Wii is innovative and all, but it should be called Wii-Beta. I definitely don't see it as a finished product. -

EDIT: Wii Sports Bowling is so sensitive the player can put a spin on the ball. -
