Will the release of the 8800M mean lower prices on other graphics cards in the near (pre-Xmas) future? I assumed it would eventually, as sellers tried to keep the other 8X00s appealing to consumers, and maybe as nVidia tried to keep them appealing to sellers, but I have no idea how long that could take.

No... it will just replace the 8700gt...

And the 8600gt is plenty powerful to power todays games...

And another thing is.... its only 17inch assides m15x alienware for now...

Consumers usually want 15.4 inch... so gamers wont really care...

I personally believe no... since this is what always happens when a new card comes out: Nothing really

When it will be released, it WILL BE expensive, as with all new products, and older models will get cheaper. With the passage of time, th 8800M GTX will get to a more reasonable price, but I don`t think we`ll ever see it below 500$,which is ridiculous, you could get a desktop 8800 GTX for that money...

i thought the 8800 series requires its own fan? so isnt that card too powerful for laptops anyway?

Duh it requires its own fan

Its a downclocked version of the G92 desktop 8800gt if im not wrong

And why a shame? They have to put so much research to make it fit in a laptop... you cant think of yourself when thinking about this... you have to think about the entire industry and stuff... its just how it works :( =/

You can.... just crack it open buy a 8800gtx ultra oc'ed ... blend it in a blender (like those "can it blend" videos) and then sprinkle it insides your laptop... be sure to duct tape the gpu to the cpu and remove all unecessary plastic such as fans etc... and pour super glue (highly effective cooler) and press back together ;)

Voila you just fitted a 8800gtx in it ;) Sli just requires more glueing and maybe filling the CD compartment... including the keyboard too...

Wow... just kidding... I cant wait for the m15x alienware 15.4 inch laptop with 8800gtx!!!! after what ive seen in pics and videos and people who where there... they said it wasnt even that thick at all! Almost like the old m9750 and m5550

Some posts here make me wanna play Crysis Live...
On topic : th 8800M GTS is just as power hungry as the 7950GTX, meaning 45 W. It won`t require anything else, but the proper housing, lhe MXM IV slot, like the one that the M570RU just happens to have :D

True... I posted a topic about it... but no one gave an answer about it...

Will you be upgrading? If yes... how and when?
