Hi guys , I've been going thro the forum for sometime and i am really impressed... Really good stuff abt notebooks.. and CHAZ man awesome gfx card info there... cheers :) :)

    I have Toshiba tecra A6

    specs :
    Description: Toshiba Tecra A6-124
Processor: Intel Centrino Duo Technologie, Intel Core Duo T2400 (1.8GHz), FSB667, 2MB L2 Cache
    Chipset: Intel 945PM
    Display: 14.1" True Brite
    Resolution: WXGA (1280 x 768)
    Random Access Memory RAM: 1x 512MB DDR2 -533, maximal 4GB
    Harddisk: 100GB, 5400rpm
Graphic-Adapter: ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 mit 256MB HyperMemory

Can anyone tell me if i can run CSS at 1028X768 smoothly at medium settings with the 512MB RAM??
And how much performance diff will be there if i upgrade to 1.5GB.

CSS isn't a very memory demanding game unless you like to host servers or play with bots, so it shouldn't be an issue. However, if you play groups of games, 1GB or 1.5GB should be felt.

I think any game within the last two years will show a difference when going from 512mb to 1gb. 1gb these days I would say is the minimum that gamers should be looking at for their systems.

That X1400 will also be taking system memory for itself, so 1gb would be a definite upgrade if you do get that system.

Get 1gb.. Newegg.com is great for cheap reliable ram. You will be set iwth 1gb.. the X1400 takes up to 128mb of system ram so you should definaltey get the 1gb. Iwould suggest getting a 1gb stick for about 80-100 and then when you can afford it get a second gb.. never hurts.

I have always found DELL machines very sturdy, even their cheap 1300 range. Just my opinion, but I find they are in most cases alot more robust then HP or the likes of Fujitsu Siemens laptops...
