what do u think?
so far i am enjoying it...its damn hard though....although i dunno if it has created a strong consumer base like Counterstrike which has been goin on for years now.

Considering how many copies were sold, yes.
-
I know that CoD4 will still be popular
-
Well, among my friends, the popularity already wore off and many are quitting. But they are not PC gamers, they got fed up with the cheaters on xbox and ps3.
Sure MW2 will still be played in a year. It won't be as popular as MW1 but it will still have a good sized community. -

I dunno I'll know in a year
Im sure there will be people there still for sure, depends on how much competition the game has with other games mostly I would think and if they keep adding stuff to the multiplayer. -
It will be superseded by MW3; IWnet will degrade MW2 service to force users to buy MW3, which will retail for $79.99. In order to continue using IWnet3 though, you will need to pay a subscription fee of YOUR SOUL. monthly.

That means probably nobody can play. -
If their online MP doesn't keep failing, sure.
There has been many issues recently on people trying to join a game, but simple could not because of some network issue that IW has been having for the last month or so... -
I waited 2 years to buy cod 4 (got it this summer for 40 euros), I also bought Halo a lot of years after the release and they still play it. I think that even if it won't be popular, just because there are some many copies sold, you will always find people online to play.

I'm honestly getting bored of it already. I'm not enjoying it as much as COD4, which I played non stop the day it came out until MW2 came out but honestly MW2 is getting really old for me.
-
I will say it will die ....I rather they just put it out as a single player game, it will be way more fun. But that is just my 2 cents, they haven't improved anything @ all ...
-
I don't play it anymore...I rather enjoy my old DOD:S , but anyway no body remember that SC2 and D3 coming out next year? ....hmmm
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
i think its awesome and i will probably be playing it a year from now. i might switch game modes soon though.

in two weeks we will be able to say SC2 and D3 are coming out next year.
-
If they ditch IWnet I would probably be playing it next year. I know some people haven't had too many problems with it, but the lag, host migration, and picking bad hosts is getting annoying. It's still fun, but I get frustrated quickly.
I still like playing COD4. I played a few games last night and it was great, so much better than mw2, for me at least. -

I think it will depend on the price points. Think about it. If you have a 59 dollar game that sells 7 million units, how many units will be sold at 39 bucks? Or 29 bucks? So, factor price, demand, and how many gamers already purchased it and continue to play it or put it down and come back to it later. I think it will do fine for a year myself...
Also, for games like D3, do you ever get that feeling that it is going to be a lot like diakatana? Where you wait, wait, wait, wait, have kids, wait, wait, get new cars, wait, wait and then you are totally let down?

Yep, memory card cheats. MS is supposed to patch the xbox here in the next few weeks.

It's like Bf2 and Bf2142 To be honest, Bf2 Was a major succes after 1942, something completely new, which kept the people entertained and even got alot of competition in it, Then bf2142 Came, People were excited for it, but it just wasn't something new, it was Bf2 with some new weapons, maps, tanks etc.
Same with Cod mw and cod mw2, after Cod (3 or 2) They got MW, which was a HUGE succes, It felt like it was something completely new compared to the games before, which made people love it, get competetive in it etc.
Exactly the same story as with battlefield i think, Still People will Continue playing MW2 Ofcourse, but it isn't going to beat the number of people still playing MW after a year.
(Sorry for my english it's not my native language :/) -

I'm still enjoying it after about 8 hours of play. I know it's not much but I don't see me getting bored of it until I get to level 70, at which point I will probably take a break and then prestige and keep playing. It'll die down a bit a year from now if a new one comes out.

Remember that Medal of Honor is coming out with a modern theater game too, to compete with MW2 and they will be supporting dedicated servers. That may mean a lot of people transition to that instead, at least for PC. This also assumes that they put out a solid game as they have in the past.
the new MoH is running on a derivative of the Unreal Engine 3 and from the looks of the trailer its pretty sweet!
Here a linky to the trailer. -

I don't really care if it is or not for I will have moved on to newer titles like BF:BC2 or BF3 hopefully.
-
will it last a year?
*scoff*
This thing barely lasted a week on my PC, Poor choice on IW's part trying to "revolutionize" multiplayer. All they did was "bone" us hardcore pc gamers. -

It will definitely be played a year from now. Many people really like the simplicity of the self-hosted system (most casual players don't know the difference and just know that it is more simple). I think it would have been nice to include both personally. Either way, the game will remain popular for many years to come.

and
screaming high pitched 12 year olds who run and gun and scream into their mics because the "servers" in MW2 have no admins
no disrespect but i think you're comparing apples to oranges -

I prefer apples, especially if they are getting blended into a smoothie.

The MW2 multiplayer IS stupid for PC, and that is as good as a fact, in my opinion. -

And your complaining about being thrown into a game with random people with everyone running and gunning? Well either you only played TDM or failed to realize that nearly 95% of all FPS's on the market are the same, clearly you've never played COD4 which was worse than MW2 when it came to running, gunning and nade spamming.
Player numbers in MW2 are fine, 6v6 is just great for most maps, if you don't like that you can still do 9v9. Trust me, I thought the limited player numbers would handicap MW2's MP, they don't, it just makes it more competitive with less spam. -
Well im more a css player than cod really, imo its its a horrible game in general. Small scale maps with a ****ton of choppers and bombs - doesnt go along at all
-
-
COD will be more popular than the legend-see the stats now...and as i see MW2 looks quite similar to some maps from cs...only ing lags kill all fun-the new system is horrible;/
-
I think COD4 will be more popular in a years time, despite being a much older game. Laugh if you want, thats my opinion.
I still enjoy COD4 despite having unlocked everything years ago, and put in hundreds of hours. Even though I have played it to death, I can still start up a game, and enjoy it from a pure fun and skill point-of-view. Im not in a clan , but I can join a server that I like, and recognise guys that ive played against before. Just a good sense of community.
However, I got bored of MW2 after a few days and havent played it since. Its sitting on my HDD and I could play it any time I want, but I don't have any great urge/desire to. Primarily the problem is IW.net. Too random, too much lag, the skill has been removed to compensate for the lag, too much waiting around between games, too many disconnects, too many games with noobs ive never seen before and will never see again. Too much 'stuff' in the game - its a bad idea and you can tell that they didn't have time to balance it. -
I think it'll still be popular. It's a good game and has enough unlocks to keep people playing for a while.
I don't know about the ps3 version, but the xbox version is broken as hell. Every other match (literally), my friends were thrown into a hacked Rust game. It was absurd. Plus, quick scoping with auto aim is just stupid, but that's not because of hackers.
After about 60 hours of MP on PC, I have only seen one, maybe two hackers. Not bad in my opinion.
I have never experienced any screaming 12-year-olds. -
I doubt it would but its gonna to be people that still gonna play it but not many. I glad i didnt buy it its not worth the $60 after borrowing my friends copy for like a month. Maybe if they finally add dedicated servers then i might buy the game
I already went back to COD4 which is still very popular after two years after the game release and i gonna reinstall TF2 also which should keep me happy until Battlefield Bad Company 2 comes out -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
BC2 is overrated.
MW2 will definitely be popular a year from now. -
-
Time will tell. Personally I hope to have moved on by then just as I have quit wow.
-
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
im just saying that the amount of attention this sequel is getting is large compared to the quality of the first game. i think a lot of it has to do with DICE talking to the community and promising the diehard horde what they want- dedicated servers.
now, mw2 totally deserved the hype, since mw1 was an awesome, awesome game praised by critics and players and everyone.
in the end, the hype doesn't really mean much about the final product, but i'm just saying that BC2 doesn't deserve the hype (because the original was nothing to write home about, and i believe that is usually the cause of hype).
i think BC2 got a bit of extra press in the wake of the MW2 uproar, but I don't expect the game to be anything special.
Will MW2 multiplayer still be popular a year from now?
