    Hey mates,

I am having a Sonoma based pc now. My next upgrade will be a Merom hopefully. My question is if they will have next gen Gpu's? Like Nvidia 8800 or something?

There's no news on those yet, if they exist.

Right now, we are on the pinnacle of DirectX 9, it won't get any better than it already is grahpics-wise. Over the past year or so, the graphics have only been marginally improving - basically what we are getting now is faster cards, not better graphics.

The problem with the graphics these days is Microsoft. It is all their fault -they are holding back the entire industry. Why? DirectX 10. We've been using DirectX 9 for three years now. It's time for an upgrade - we were due a while ago. Once DirectX 10 comes out, we will get newer cards using DirectX 10 as hardware. It will open up the possibilities for much better graphics - as I have said, we've already hit the ceiling on DX9.

    Hope that helps,
    Chaz

as chaz said, we are at the peak of dx9. it will not get any better at this point. when dx10 comes out, there will be newer cards, with pixel shader 4.0, etc... also, i have heard of a physics card...which is supposedly an add in card, but im not sure if it is or isnt coming out.

    pb,out.
