The incredible looks and slim proflie of the FE690 are seriously drawing me in... but will a 128 mb 7600 with around 3000 3dMark05 be sufficient for my needs? Right now I'm mostly an RTS/MMO gamer, with a focus on MMOs (not WoW which runs on anything). I'd like to get into more fps gaming considering I won't be bringing my 360 with me to college. How will somethign with 3000 3dmarks stand up in CS:S or FEAR?

Keep in mind right now I am gaming on a '01 Sony Vaio with a Radeon 9000 64mb....

Will the 7600 blow that away enough that I won't really care?

I'd say it would run most games on medium settings without AA and other extras.

You should be able to run CS:S at highest settings (for your native res), considering that the HL2 engine runs well on terrible video cards.

The Go7600 shouldn't have any problem with the latest games. Initial benchmarks show the Go7600 128MB version to lag signifigantly behind the 256MB version, but those are benchmarks, not real world gaming performance. I'm sure you could play most games at mendium/high settings without any problems.

sorry to interefere with this thread but does the 128 mb 7600 have higher benchmarks than the 7400 go /x1400 256 mb?

by the way, I am also very interested in the sony.

If I emeber correctly an x1400 gets about 1500 in 3dMark05 right? so significant improvement.

    3000 for 7600 128mb
    1500 for x1400..

the 7600 is a winner if those stats are right
