Since I have the VGA cables for my Xbox 360, I could hook it up to my laptop. Before I do this I was wondering if this would shorten the life of my laptop?

I dont think you can hook up an Xbox to a Laptop like that, because both are VGA-out ports.

The VGA port on the notebook is for video out only...the best you might be able to do is get an external TV tuner and hook up the X360's included composite video cables. If you get a high quality TV tuner you probably won't have any lag associated with it.

Okay weird because the VGA port lets me put the VGA cable from my Xbox 360 into it. So will it wear out my laptop?

Yes it fits, but the port only supports video going out, not coming in.
