I have a new Acer Aspire 5630 with a 945 GM Express chipset.

When I adjust the display settings to make it darker it only holds for a short time then returns to it's default setting which is too light.

    Please can anyone help.

instead of hitting "Apply," trying hitting the return key instead once uve changed it, just a guess really. Ive set really low resolutions before and couldnt get to the apply button cuz it was off screen.....hitting return skips windows asking if u would like to keep these settings as it does a 20 sec countdown. That sounds like wats happening, u didnt say but the countdown isnt appearing it sounds like, like it supposed to and just changing back as if there was a countdown. Like I said use return after u change it and not the window's apply. Hopefully that helps.

Thank you mas5acre, I believe hitting the return has solved the problem.

The display is handled by Acer and there is no countdown.
I am using Vista and there does not seem to be any "Display" icon in the control panel as there was in XP..... just the graphic card icon, which I say is governed by Acer.

    SORRY
    I have mislead you!
The display is controlled by Intel........NOT........Acer.
    Silly me!
