    Hey everyone,

I've been looking at some of the Turion 64 laptops by HP, compaq and other and I was wondering about the ATI 200m's 3D capabilities. I wanted to know how well you guys think it may run some of these older games. Let's assume that there is around 512-1gig of ram and an AMD Turion for a prg. I know some of the settings will need to be turned off or resolution lowered.

    Warcraft III
    Unreal Tournement (the original)
    Half Life (again the original)
    Serious Sam

Guild Wars and WoW (Ok, maybe not so much older  :D ).

I'm trying to decide if this chips performance is good enough for me, or if I need to look for a better video chip. I'm mostly looking to play a few games here and there while traveling. I have a solid desktop rig that can handle everything I throw at it with ease.

    Thanks!!! :)

I could run UT on mine, is wasn't great, but it was ok, and half life too was ok as well, dunno about the rest though

If you can, get some thing with more than the 200m

You shouldnt have any problems running those games, you may not beable to turn all the candy on but they should still run fine. In addition, I have run bf1942 on my x200 along with pro-evolution soccer5, HL2, COD1, counterstrike source, all at medium to good settings at average resolutions. The only thing I would suggest is to get 1gb of ram.
That said it didnt run the latest games very well if at all eg fear, COD2, etc
so if you want to play these game in the future I would look for a better gpu

    Thanks for the replies.

I'm trying to decide if I want to spend the extra $$$ for a laptop that has dedicated video - especially when that amount might score me a new top of the line video card for my desktop. l

If the 200m can run Civ 4 playably, I would be content with that. I'm trying to decide if I will be happy with light gaming picking up a Compaq with a Turion and the ATI 200m.

Otherwise, I would probably look into one of the Acer Travelmate 4404's with an x700.

yeah it would run all of them perfectly. I say this, because all of those games run fine on my ATI 9000 128 IGP!

I could gaurantee that your 9000 is faster than a 200M, sadly

Actually, the Integrated Radeon 9000 is very poor and vastly inferior to the X200M.

I'm lucky if I can get a game to run on mine, let alone actually playable :(
