Hi I have the following rig on signature. I have two hdd one is 320 gb 5400rpm and another is 120 gb 7200 rpm. Right now my ide0 is 320 gb where I have installed the OS and other games. So, will there be any change or increase in performance if I install the OS and games in 120gb with 7200 rpm and rest on 320 gb or there will be no any effect?

    Thanks

A 320 GB 5400 RPM HDD should perform about equally fast as a 120 GB 7200 RPM drive due to the increased platter density. So no, there will probably be no noticeable performance difference.

I don't think our answers are that different. Moo suggested that there may be a difference, but very small. I agree, but the difference is probably so small you won't notice.

This is true. The 320GB might actually be FASTER because of the increased density, the HDD needs to make less rotations to read and write the same amount of data, whereas the 120GB drive moves faster, but requires more rotations.

HD tune might not show the true speed if either of the drives have a lot of data on them because it will do the read & write test on the outer part of the disk.

There probably won't be much of a difference in loading times, and in performance, ie framerates, hard drives don't effect framerates so there would be no point in that regard.
