It depends, in close combat with many players it may not run fluently on medium, but with 16-32 players it should run fine with a little OC.

id be slightly concerned with heat problems in an acer. id recommend looking at a clevo/sager from one of the various resellers... it will most likely be a similar price

Like others have said, medium should be fine. Higher resolutions would work most of the time unless you are very iffy about infrequent lags. Like someone has mentioned, with many players, it might stutter in higher than medium settings. Unless of course you want to OC, in which case you might do away with that lag. Ultra, of course, will be unplayable.

It will run fine at mostly high settings. I had a 650m in my old Sager NP9150, and it ran BF3 in 1080p with all high settings. I just dialed down the aa. This laptop has a lower resolution screen, so it won't have any problem with BF3.

The 650m is a pretty decent gpu; it's better than most people realize. I remember when I first got it, I tried playing Crysis 2 and the framerate was awful. I thought it was probably playing on the igpu but didn't know how to make sure (lol I was a noob) so I called xoticpc and the guy on the phone said it was probably just because the 650m couldn't handle Crysis, even on low/medium settings. I didn't buy it, so I checked the nvidia control panel and Crysis was set to low performance. Once I set it so play on the 650m it had no problem playing it on medium settings. It's a stout gpu for the price.

^ this. you'll enjoy Battlefield 3 on HIGH settings with that CPU and GPU on that specific resolution.

Yes, except for times when there's a lot of activity.

Unlikely. I read on one of the threads comparing the two memories that for a 1600x900 resolution, the GDDR3 will be fine.
