hey, sorry in advance the search didn't give me any results to "x64" "XP 64" or any xp 64 combo, too short, long...

I ordered the zv6000 :hp: w/ ati xpress 200m 128mb dedicated, i know chazman and everyone said it was a very low end card but i mainly want to play counter-strike 1.6 so i think i should be fine, specially if i go with 1gb ram and 128mb dedicated vram, 128 shared vram (256mb total vram), but my main question is i heard that game performance greatly improves when on the 64-bit system, is that true? I've gone on other forums that talk about the XP x64 :amd64: and they all say games like HL and the sims2 run great on the x64. will that improve game play with that graphics card?

thanks (i would try all these games and see for myself if they work, if only USPS had come through with their 4-5 business day delivery promise) nh

Nice Pick! The zv6000 has one of the best 64-bit processors avalible to notebooks currently. The X200M isn't as bad as people say it is if you have 1 GB of RAM. It is capable of playing games like NFSU, BF2, The Sims 2, and Half-Life 2. Doom3 may be pushing the envelope, but you may be able to play it, depending upon your settings. Good luck with Win x64! Tell us how it turns out!

Be aware that HP DOES NOT support XP x64, so you won't have any drivers. Also, you will only see an increase in performance if the application is 64-bit. I've had x64 before - there is no performance increase. It's not worth 'upgrading' to.

thanks for the info, just to let anyone who might be looking into trying x64 out, if you go to the forums at www.planetAMD64.com and search your laptop, there may be drivers for your system available, there are a couple threads dedicated to drivers for the zv6000 with x64 and there are people there that have tried the drivers out so they might be able to help you (not that you guys here haven't/can't help, u guys are awesome) but its a whole forum dedicated to 64-bit apps/OS/chipsets, they might have links for your laptop too!

i just want to try and see for myself, i'm not hardcore into computing so if i x64 doesn't work out then i'll just scrap it and get xp pro.. its all free for me... i guess university has some perks... aside from $5600/yr tuition...
