Gonna need more info does it blue screen, crash to desktop, just restart? My general advice is to check if all your drivers are up to date and do a virus and spyware check. The video card or cpu could also be overheating and causing the crash. It could also just be windows 7 since its only a rc there are bugs that might be causing.

It crashes the whole laptop so I HAVE to reset the laptop.
Already have the latest drivers -
so does it freeze the laptop so u cant do anything and you have to hold the power button
or just it go to that blue screen and the system restarts by itself -

Which graphics card driver specifically?
-
Don't forget that CoD4 was made when Vista was new, so I think it can be Windows7.
Also like jsf_enthusiast wrote, which driver are you using ? -
I have a 9800m GTX with driver Nvidea 186.03 WHQL -
My guess is the Operating System that is causing it, Windows 7, but we need to know more about the issue in order to help you.
-
What you want me to say more?
I just bought the laptop 2 weeks ago , and COD 4 is my first game -
What do you do in-game when the computer crashes?
Bluescreen, or no Bluescreen?
Have you checked your graphics card's temps? (Download and Run GPU-Z from www.techpowerup.net)
Is the computer connected to AC Power?
Does the image that is displayed on the screen freeze, or does the screen go black?
Download 3DMark 2006 from www.futuremark.com, run the benchmark, and post the results, does the same type of crash happen? -
I can play cod4 on my macbook with win7 rc no probs. I have 185.5 driver tho..and a 9400m
-
I hope Its not the fault of my laptop
-
3DMark and post restults. If it overheat and Crash; Then it can be fault of your laptop. I have 9800M GTX too so give it a try and post it here.
-
COD4 is 101% compatible with Windows 7
-
Im downloading 3D mark as we speak ill post the results later

Try running COD4 with windows vista compatibility
or even XP...
TRY IT! -
You have almost 12000?
Is my score any good? -
-
You can try various operating systems. I recommend you try vista first. -
Allright, thanks for the tip :d
-
Here is my result with 185.85 DOX

You are still low ! -
Thats strange we have similar systems dont we
-
But don't forget that 3DMark06 dosn't support quad core so it will only use 2 cores. But anyway, try my drivers. I have posted them earlyer today. Here is the link
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=4953035&postcount=1323 -
Thanks man Ill try them out
-
Okay, let me know the result -
I think i know why my Result is low.
Because at the 3th test of 3Dmark , I only get 1 FPS??
At the other test 30-60 -
What did you get now ? And do you mean the CPU test or the last "frozen" test?
-
the cpu test
-
I get also very low results there. It is like that...
-
-
I hink its the Os
-
Perhaps it's the memory -
I dont get a bluescreen , it just crashes and I get a blank black screen
-
-
Can you try to post your load temps ? -
What program do i have to use
-
GPU-Z (Temps can be found in the Sensors Tab).
-
Ok so i just run the program will gaming and post a screenshot when finished gaming?
-
-
Ok i died it and played for an half hour , with a temp from 54 C to a maximum of 74C
-
Strange, noting seems wrong with your GPU...
I think it is 7 then... -
It has to be! , anyone knows when the final version of 7 will be released maybe ill go back to XP/ vista
-
not before october I think. I have tried many bulids of Win7 it is not a stable os yet. I'm happy with Vista don't know why people don't like it. Is there any other games you can try on Win7 to make sure it is not your GPU ??
-
The only other game i have is Counter strike Source , but that game isnt as demanding as COD4.
But when I play CSS , i dont get any of those problems on the highest settings -
Hmmm, it is not your hardware then. That is good to know...
-
Well Ill go back to Vista then
.
Thanks for the help tunay !
