i have a toshiba satellite x205 w. the 8700mgt in it, i recently installed windows 7 home premium 32bit and it seems like if i dont use the stock driver that comes with the system recovery disc (it's old, came out round '07), the screen flickers this black line across the screen. but if i stay with the stock, it runs perfect. weird thing is, if i even use the driver from toshiba for my computer that was updated in '09, it will still flicker....

im just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences and know how to fix this flicker with other drivers? everyone has told me its a driver issue OR a powermizer ( is that) issue... they tell me i need to download something to turn powermizer off? i'd like to get back into some games but i need to fix this driver problem!

thanks for any help guys.

Uninstall the driver entirely and see if the problem continues. If it does, then you have a hardware problem that is likely the result of a failing graphics card.

nope, no flickering. like i said, people have told me its certain drivers? but most agree that is powermizer 'downclocking' or something like that.. i dont know about powermizer but they keep telling me to turn it off. i just dont know how or if it'll be a waste of time.

In the Control Panel there is usually an applet for Nvidia settings... you can try there.

If that doesn't work, then you either have a failing GPU or a discontinuous/loose video cable.
