So guys i read that the windows 8.1 brings a performance boost for amd cpu users...I would really love too see some comparison benchmarks results with windows 8 vs 8.1 and amd and Intel fps gains..here is a article i found
AMD APUs Get Better Proformance in Windows 8.1
So amd users are you really experiencing such a performance boost??Is it worth to upgrade to 8.1 for us which have intel for better framerate?

Those gains are from those programs using the IGP to assist the CPU. Windows 8.1 supposedly allows for this to happen better than Windows 8 did.

Well I ran the useless PCMark 8 and found my mobile Intel destroys an AMD Desktop featured on AMD"s blog. 3900 score.

I'm not sure how much use OpenCL benchmarks will be to you since for me at least, I only know of one application that uses OpenCL, Photoshop or maybe Adobe Premiere. That's it for me.

Lastly, clearly you can find out Intel CPU still destroys AMD CPU. The only that saves the AMD is their more powerful GCN which they use to inflate their benchmarks with OpenCL or 3D benchmarks. AMD is pathetic in using these benchmarks to hide how weak their CPU really is.

The only merit I see with AMD is if you are planning to buy a machine to game with integrated graphics. Otherwise if you are planning to use something with CPU intensive work, I'd still choose Intel over AMD. And if you plan to game, honestly, I think spending the extra $30 for a laptop with a Nvidia 740M or whatever will be a better buy. Last I checked, both Intel and AMD integrated do not have dedicated vRAM, which is a horrible design flaw for both APUs.

As for upgrading W8 to W8.1, I think you'd be stupid not to.

Where is the vram ment to go? It's not like they have a lot of room to throw some extra memory onto the chips aswell...

Right. Let's just add significantly more heat, more power draw, and larger dies for a 30% performance improvement... alrighty then.

With DDR4 and architecture changes, there will be little need for on-die vRAM. Once you get above 2133MHz, there are diminishing returns on performance due to the limited performance of the actual dGPU.
