I'm typing right now from Safe Mode.

    Here's what happened:

I installed Darkfall to try it out. Was running good for about 15 minutes. Then my computer freezes, restarts, and now I can't get into Normal Windows, but I can get into Safe Mode. I believe my graphics card overheated. But it seems fine cause I'm using my computer right now, just in safe mode =/

First I thought it was Darkfall, so I unistalled it. Nothing

Second, I thought it was Visual C++ it installed. Nothing

I tried fixing the registery with CCleaner. Nothing

I tried last known configuration. Nothing

My last resort is a OS reinstall, but I'm trying to avoid that. Anyone have any ideas?

You can try to reinstall video drivers before reinstalling the whole OS. :)

    You got a awesome GPU.
If you think it is overheated, VACUUM it FTW!
Most likely is a hardware error. Uninstall the GPU and install it again may help.
Don't forget to use Driver Sweeper for a complete wipe-out of the GPU.
Forgot to tell too, download the latest Directx(standalone) and install it.

    Thanks for the replies.

That was my last thought last night, that it would be my video drivers. I haven't updated those since the first month I got the computer. I've downloaded new drivers. And before I went to work this morning, set everything to copy over to my secondary drive. Thank god I have one of those.

If this doesn't work and no one else has anything, looks like a format is in the works :(

when I try to get into normal windows I can see the progress bar, everything, then right before the login screen comes up, it hangs.

It happens to me sometimes when Im in battery mode. Windows loads and then hangs just before the login screen. It works if I do a hard restart after that, boot into safe mode and then restart in normal mode again. Try booting your lappy using just the power cable and no battery in. I could also be due to some freefal type sensor on the HDD. If my lappy is tilted, it doesnt boot properly sometimes

So everything is fixed now? Anyways, if you still have problems, it sounds like some bad OS files causing the loading to hang.

You should go to command prompt and use "sfc /scannow" with your Vista dvd in the laptop. That command will look through your OS files and replace any that are corrupted or have errors with good ones from your dvd.

well I thought everything was fine. I logged back into Normal Windows after I uninstalled the video drivers, driver sweeper and everything. VGA drivers install perfectly. I can use my computer now, woot!

Well I go online and download new drivers. And install them, everything goes good. Restart computer, I login. I see my icons, bitlord pop's up, then out of no where my screen goes white. ?!

I tried the official nvidia drivers from the site, instead of white my screen turns black!

Any one have any ideas on this issue?
