I keep on getting this error message pop up after running a game or just out of the blue. I only started getting it after I used my computer>c drive>properties>disk clean I checked marked everything and deleted then I changed my nvidia drivers from 174.74 back to 174.31. Then after reboot I started getting that error message. I don't understand what it means. Is this serious?

Okie, what laptop do you own? I had this same problem... and i fixed it...
    this is how i did..
I installed it using the original INI files...
    like this:

    1.) Download 174.74, extract to a folder...
2.) Uninstall the drivers, Restart the PC, and unplug the internet (? dunno).
3.) From the zip file that says: "Original Infs", get out the one that goes with your PC... for example mine was nvdm, and place it on the original folder, and remove from the original folder, the ini that you dont need (nv__)
    4.) (restart the machine)
    5.) install using the setup...
    6.) should work.
    7.) Problem Solved.
    :)

I did download 174.74 to a folder on my desktop and also did the same for 174.31. I followed the instructions ppl talk about by downloading driver first to desktop then modified inf to same folder in desktop. I'm new to this and I don't know what you mean by zip file? where can I find the zip file or Original Infs and I'm not sure what mines one is. I own a Toshiba x205 sli1. I like the 174.31 drivers over the 174.74 just because they're digitally signed. So yeah please explain further and I'll try my best to follow the instructions.

Ok I went to the desktop folder where I downloaded the driver and modified inf then I double clicked on the file folder and scrolled down till I found original infs in a compressed (zipped) folder, I double clicked that and I get nv_dispd, nvac, nvam, nvdm, nvlt. My understanding of what you posted is I find out which is the one for my Toshiba x205sli1 , leave that alone and delete the rest. Then I have to reinstall the drivers like that. Is that correct?

1.) You have to uninstall the graphic drivers first. (Device Manager -> Video Card properties -> Uninstall Driver )
2.) Restart the PC, without an internet connection (that way you prevent Windows from installing the "latest" drivers Windows update thinks are.
3.) Now, um...with your computer freshly restarted :p, go to the folder in which you extracted the drivers, folder should be named like 17474_vista or something...
4.) In there, you will find a file, that matches one of the other infs that are included in hat comprssed (zipped) folder you just stated you found, just move that out... drag and drop elsewhere, or whatever.
5.) From the compressed folder, move the NVTS file into the original folder... i think nvts is the toshiba one...
6.) Move the modded inf to the original folder...
7.) Do not use the have-disk method now that you moved the "Original Toshiba Inf" to the main folder (along with the modded nv_disp one).
8.) Just run the setup.exe, and then it'll pop a window that says "Drivers not digitally signed" or something...
    just go ahead and install...
9.) Let me know how it works out.

to be a lil more clear, the only part i didnt understand was this...

3.) From the zip file that says: "Original Infs", get out the one that goes with your PC... for example mine was nvdm, and place it on the original folder, and remove from the original folder, the ini that you dont need (nv__)

This was a VERY common problem with the nvidia 174.xx drivers. Disabling some of 174.xx's features in msconfig would provide a temporary fix, then the problem would reappear again, and again, and again...

I finally fixed it (permanently) by upgrading to the nvidia drivers 175.16 (later moving to 175.19). I would suggest the latter to anyone who doesn't want to keep seeing this rundll32 issue.

No, if you use nvdm.inf you no longer need the modified inf. You can also delete the .inf that is default in the driver pack (I think it is nvac.inf on that particular driver).

    Thanks Tusin,
Suggestion worked great... when i restarted after uninstallation, windows downloaded some drivers automatically and then i installed the 174.74 drivers with the nvdm.inf after removing the nvac.inf and no errors on startup. Thanks once again for the solution... Cheers...
