Came across something interesting, enabling SLI for The Witcher 2
Instructions
1. Download and install Nvidia Inspector. (latest version is 1.9.5.5)
2. Open Nvidia Inspector. Click on the tool button at the right of the "Driver Version" box. This opens up the Profile Settings editor.
3. In the "Profiles" drop-down select "The Witcher 2". Under "Compatibility" (first section) look for "SLI compatibility bits". You want to change this field's value from whatever it is to 0x02C04205.
4. Hit "Apply Changes". There's no need to change anything else.

was getting 4-20 fps even with everything disabled and on low and the res. dropped back. I uninstalled the Nvidia 3d vision driver and 3d vision cotroller driver like i read on here and now im on med. settings and my normal res. 1920x1200 and im getting between 30-60 fps. Thats with the new 275.27 beta drivers. Now its finally running pretty good.
-
I removed my 3d vision drivers and it was instantly much smoother, using 275 BETA driver as well. I would advise anyone playing this game to do the same.
-
I hope AMD and CDProject get those optimizations pumped out. But I guess I have no right to complain, seeing as how I'm already running the game on Ultra.
-
CDProjekt is already releasing a patch fixing numerous things and optimizing indoor and outdoor scenes, and fixing a memory leak.
-
On high ,using a slightly overvolted but hugely overclocked 6770m 925/1050 i am getting 30-40 fps @ 1366x768.
-
It's sad that my 5850 can only run this game with 30-35 FPS on medium setting... if I try to push the limit a little bit more , the game will only run on 8-9 FPS. Ridiculous.
-
What's ridiculous about it?
-
I had the exact same problem, friend.
If anyone else had this problem with registering or viewing the options properly via the initial dialog popup on launch, here's how to fix it based on their support FAQ:
Support - FAQ - thewitcher.com
The Configurator's buttons are flashing and overlap each other.up
If the size of text (DPI) has been increased in the system settings then problems with the Configurator might occur such as flashing buttons, buttons overlapping each other etc.
If these problems occur, please return to the standard text size.
Windows XP
Rightclick on the desktop -> Select Properties -> Choose Display Settings
Click Advanced.
In General tab in DPI setting menu select Normal size (96 DPI)
Windows Vista/7
Open menu Start -> Go to the Control Panel -> Then to Appearance and Personalization - Display Settings.
From text size options select Smaller - 100% (default)
Save the changes
After registering and configuring things, I set my system text size back to its previous setting and haven't had any issues with anything in-game. You will, however, have to do these steps again if you want to tweak your graphics options again
Why there isn't an in-game menu (other than gamma and brightness) is a bit beyond me. Still lovin' the game, though!

If you have the retail or Direct2Drive versions of the game, you need to read this:

Your performance issues are caused by DRM. -
What's not?

For the current owners: With the release of the new patch and all, is it possible for a single-GPU configuration to run the game at close to maximum without being unplayable? (ultrasampling and the other desktop-only features disabled of course)
-
Yes I just saw in another thread someone reporting doing that with the 6970M
30 to 45 FPS. -
I run it on Ultra, with Uber, SSAO, Cinematic DoF turned off.
6970M @ 830/1050 -
I can now run it @ 1200p, Ultra, everything turned on/maxed except for ubersampling and motion blur, at 30-58 FPS. My GTX 460 is also heavily overclocked (~17%).
-
What drivers do you have?
-
Im using the 275 beta drivers, in-tandem with the 1.1 update literally tripled my FPS.
-
Sweet, can I assume I can use this driver on the 560m when I get my laptop?
-
As long as you can obtain a modified INF, you should be able to. Although by the time the 560m comes out, there should be specific drivers to address it.
-
The 1.1 patch didnt really help my fps.
maybe the next patch will. Do you have the gog, retail or steam version of the game?
-
Your issue is that Core 2 Duo. You'll need a Core 2 Quad to uncap your framerate
