    My specs are as follows:
    8gb 1300 ram 2x6990m crossfire and cpu is i7-2670

People were suggesting to test it out best to try witcher 2 with uber sampling, ive tried this and all settings on ultra however im getting AT BEST 15 fps.

Does anyone have any experience with these specs and is this what i should expect about? what should i lower?

you cannot max with ubersampling with 6990m xfx, but turn off ubersampling and you can max the rest

Even a higher powered desktop would struggle with Ubersampling. I don't know who suggested you enable that, very bad advice. Once you disable Ubersampling, everything will be fine.

Ubersampling is the issue. Without it you should run it flawless. Even with my PC GPU ubersampling is an issue.

on single 6990m its a pain in the a** to run.
whats worse is when people say it runs fine on my laptop and we both have same spec lol.
play at 1600x900 high settings. disable ubersampling also Anti aliasing.
also set AF in ccc settings i read somewhere it helps by a good 5-10fps ill see if i find link

you should be able to run it on 1080p buddy, something wrong there, on my 580m I have high preset, 1080p with ubersampling disabled (rest is on except for cinematic depth of field, which doesn't matter as I understand) and I get pretty decent fps (don't remember it, didn't play for long)

Today most important component for the Witcher 2 (especially for steam users) is Broadband! 11GB 'patch' (for the enhanced edition) is being downloaded... :-/

11GB Patch??? - Steam Users' Forums

Now just need to find out what the enhanced version offers! :p

New Steam download was a step back ... they got rid of the Training Skit... I wish they modified that to be saveable instead.

Ubersampling kills my fps to 17 fps at 2560 x 1600... Without it I get a playable 32 to 29 fps on my desktop.

One thing im definitely not that familiar with how to use is CCC. I know some people say to set things like AA in CCC others say to let the game set it, is there anywhere i can read up on the differences or a list of preferred settings for games and either allowing CCC or the game itself to control these settings?

    the settings i use
    i play at 720p.
all settings on witcher 2 config tool at high/ultra. edit::: not ubersampling!!
average fps around 50fps. so still looks utter amazing and plays great.
have a look at radeon pro tool. its a advanced config tool but really simple to use(Honest!) can poss get a few extra frames.
if you dont want that open up CCC and under the gaming tab justslide it to performance.
also i use the 12.2 drivers as they seem better than 123 for some reason. also try playing with a single 6990m as i did read somewhere that xfire in the witcher 2 is messed up.

Any improvements to optimization with the latest patch?

I suppose because it is a DX9 game it runs like crap on a lot of laptops that get decent frame rates for DX11 games.

they did kind of rebuild the game for this patch. Also steam is/was having issues with downloading the patch. You're better off finding your cd key and getting the gog backup and just downloading the gog version: GOG.com

It's actually running worse now post patch for a lot of people. They changed the lighting in the Xbox version and brought in a new system which appears to be the culprit along with a newly implemented Depth of Field affect which is killing performance in cut scenes for a lot of people. I'm also have weird texture pop in that never happened before...

I'm hoping it's a driver issue and the next Nvidia update will fix it but I'm definitely not managing to keep it as smooth as before. Then again, on my system I could never get it to stay at a constant 30FPS - I'd always get drops regardless especially in open areas.

Can people with similar spec to mine give me some spec recommendations?

I can't be bothered spending an hour or more tuning/tweaking. :D

    Most appreciated peeps.
