So I bought the Witcher Enhanced Edition Directors Cut ( the first witcher game ) from gamersgate.com on a deal. I played this game in the past and it was so buggy and crashed frequently -- losing save game progress-- so I quit. Now I am looking to go back and play it again on my desktop.

I was wondering if their were any game-play tips or tricks that anyone wanted to share?

    * BTW the first time I played the game I got to the swamp part (not sure the name) and my game just kept crashing and crashing and my savefile went corrupt, so I will be making several save-files this go around.

I'm having a hard time getting into it. I'm at the outskirts of Vizima, pretty much at the very beginning, and it's been just a bunch of running back and forth so far.

the witcher games are rather buggy EE and witcher 2. i rage quit because i kept getting into infinite load loops when fighting mobs and accidentally going into another zone. the 9gb steam patches for witcher 2 didnt help lol

Yeah another person claiming they know what's going on trying to be cool.

EE fixed the bugs and game runs fantastic and well. I have not run into ANY bugs with the EE version. And Witcher 2 was the best RPG I've played in years.

If I didn't know better, I'd say this looks like another post paid by BioWare to trash CD Projekt.

but i guess i work for bioware. ignorant stupid people will be ignorant and stupid

I have to confirm this ... the EE edition never gave me any bugs or probs Vs the utterly bugged version of the released game & the EE was for free so ... :D ... they made me happy by doin that because the game couldn't go for 5 minutes without crashing at the start

Witcher 1 worked fine for me, oddly enough. No bugs. And this was -before- the EE patch.

Witcher 2 before the numerous patches, however... hoooooo boy.

I forgot the non-nerdy way to beat 'the beast' in the beginning ( I dont have all day to read spell books and learn the ways of fiction in a game), what is the easy way to beat this thing again?

Well said, everyone is entitled to opinions about liking a game or not, but about performance ... TWEE works very good and I never got any (major) problem, and similarly for TW2 (played two months ago, not at release).

Back to the thread for tips and tricks for TWEE: Playing the good guy pays in the end. Save always before playing dice or talking privately to kings. At some point in the game you'll have no choice but to make a choice. And finally, this is not your jRPG where you get points for every single ability, so choose wisely.

Which beast are we talking about? If the very first one then I also would like to know. If it is the dog, then use the poison which I think Abigail can provide.

Easy way to beat him is to use Aird (knockdown skill), then hope you get a finishing move on him .

and to both naticus and hockeymass , after you beat the beast (and head into Vizima) the story/game/everything gets soooo much better.

Every time I play this game i just want to skip the prologue/act I.

If you have a save before the fight, you can also get a potion to slow down time (sorry, can recall the name). The strategy I followed was: use that potion + a healing potion, then kill the dogs and finally the beast.

Yeah I got passed it by saving right before the fight, then spamming Aard until I got a stun and one kill. It took 3 or 4 times for it to happen.

Get a witcher's sword and have it imbued with 3 red meteors. You'll get a massive boost in damage.

No, blue is the cheap upgrade. Wait for the 3 reds. And since you're now in chapter 2 ... you can try taking down the wyverns: they are though, a battle with two will get you killed, but the effort will pay in their nest :D

For the OP: If you've decided to help rebels in chapter 1, be sure NOT to visit the detective until you've settled all of the side quests in the Hairy Bear Inn, otherwise you'll be hit hard by the loss.
