I doubt anyone will find this hot news but for those still playing the Witcher, the new patch, it's standalone module and the editor have finally been released.
The bad news: You will likely have to restart a game from scratch due to incompatibilities between this version and older saved games.

Cool. I'll check it out. I hadn't got far in the game so it's a no biggie to start over. I hated the load times b/w screens and apparantly 1.2 fixed that. My character got poisoned/drunk and got killed by some three-headed beast and that's when I stopped, pre-1.2 patch.
Thanks for the head's up. +1 rep for you! -
Love the game. Get a crash about every 3 hours or so with 1.2. I'll probably pass on 1.3 unless it's very stable, and don't want to start over
Thax for heads up. -
I can't get to the release notes from work, anyone have them to post here? Thanks in advance!
-
Correct me if I''m wrong but the loading time is still reasonably long even with the 1.2 patch installed ?
-
I hear they a rereleasing the game at some point with all of the patches integrated in, anyone know when that is going down?
Also, anyone think we might ever see this on Steam or Impulse? -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
Mid may is supposed to be when the "enhanced" edition comes out with improved load times, new content and new npcs. The last date I saw was may 16'th I believe.
heres the low down on on the current patch,

5. New features and fixes
======================================================
The Module Edition Upgrade package updates the Witcher to version 1.3 and adds the functionality of running a user editable module. The sample module has been provided, offering a couple of hours of additional gameplay, which can be altered by the user using the Module Editor. The New Game main menu offers two options now: starting the regular game, or starting new adventure (new module).
WARNING! The Witcher 1.3 Module Edition is only partially compatible with saved games from previous versions (1.0, 1.1a, 1.2). Loading older saved games is still possible but may lead to unexpected behavior and other problems. The players are advised to restart the game from the beginning using The Witcher 1.3 Module Edition.
Gameplay and text bugs fixed:
- Fixed various localization issues for English, French, Italian, German and Spanish languages,
- Fixed combat abilities 'Patinado' and 'Sinister' issue when proper modifier has not been applied correctly under given circumstances,
Code bugs fixed:
- Fixed a few random crashes in Prologue and Chapters 1, 2 and 3,
- Fixed crash in Act 4 when running near exit to lakeside from village to inn,
- Fixed game crash when using Alt+Tab, especially while loading location or game,
- Fixed dialogue camera shots on standing up characters,
- Fixed issue with 'Game Paused' text disappear occasionally after exiting game panel when game was paused during opening of a panel,
- Fixed issue with disabled attack when player holds block for a long time and then immediately tries to strike,
- Fixed various issues regarding mousedrive steering and pathfinding,
- Fixed weapon enchants not updating properly when switching weapon slots or dropping weapon from inventory panel,
- Fixed issue with Geralt not attacking immobile creatures or not approaching objects from a certain distance,
- Fixed issue with blocking middle mouse button during some cutscenes and when fistfight starts,
- Fixed occasional issues with sheathing weapon after combat and on Alt+Tab,
- Fixed issue with breaking meditation mode if Geralt is attacked when entering meditation,

6. Known Issues
======================================================
1) The Witcher may exhaust virtual address space when running on 32-bit Windows Vista. Microsoft has released a hotfix that addresses this problem. Please download the hotfix from the following location when playing the game on 32-bit Windows Vista: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940105
2) The following video cards are not currently supported: S3 Colt, S3 S27, S3 S8, Intel GMA 950 based cards. Audio: Hercules Muse 5.1 (C-Media Audio).
3) The following processors are out of range: AMD Duron Series, AMD Athlon XP 2400+ through 3200+, AMD Sempron 2400+ through 2800+, and the INTEL Celeron Series.
4) Some bugfixes mentioned above will work only if a game is restarted from scratch, for some others a corresponding act needs to be restarted.
5) The Witcher supports only Creative EAX 4.0. If your soundcard uses other EAX version, use “Environmental Effects” option instead.
6) The Digital Distribution version of The Witcher (v.1.3) is not supported by Vista 64-bit systems.

I quit playing this about 2 hours in to wait for these fixes and am glad to hear they are finally here. I know the US version of the Witcher is censored and would like to know if there is a decensor patch that works with the new patch. If I'm going to start the game over I might as well see it the way that it was meant to be seen. The fact that it was censored in the first place is ridiculous.
-
Would have enjoyed the game, but I stopped as you are forced to adopt a certain style during fights, didn't even finish the mission where your supposed to light the torches or something like that.
If patch fixes that or I have been mistaken then let me know, I still have the game lying around.

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
I'd still wait till the "enhanced edition" patches roll out supposedly next month.
-
-
What are we talking here, censored vs uncensored? PG vs NC-17? or PG13 vs R? or What? -
-
wow thats really cool they are adding more gameplay hours. I cant think of another game that does this for free.
I really just want The Witcher 2 though -
-
There is some conversation that was also censored out of the US version, even though (from what I remember about it) I don't think most of it was explicit. It certainly makes some exchanges in the game feel awkward.
And, the loading times issues were definitely addressed with previous patches. -
-
All english versions have a lot of the original dialogue cut due to space and cost constraints, I have the UK version and that too can benefit from reenabling the "cut" dialogue aspects. However doing so can make the game unstable and crash, I'd wait for May before deciding.
-
I tried 1.3 and old saves works fine. Still crashes after 4 hours or so with all OS updates. The game quits during location transitions or trying to save.
I do a cold boot and alls well again for 4 to 5 hours. -
-
-
Did you mean fresh start with 1.3? I just continued where I left off near end of Chapter Two, from 1.2A to 1.3.
All quits are random so far, like a memory leak or something.. -
my game keeps crashing every 30 mins or lower......ive started the game over many times trying different patches.....even 1.3....but still it keeps crashing
anyone knows how to resolve this?.....i really wanna play this game -
Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
Is your vid card OC'd any? I found I had to significantly lower the OC on my 8800 GTS , didnt solve the problem completely , but it did lessen the occurence to a substantial degree.
-
My video card is working at its normal clocks
-
My thoughts on the small adventure they released, it's an entertaining (and somewhat challenging) play for 2-3 hours. It also ends satisfactorily and explains a little more about Eskel (your fellow Witcher you see in the Prologue). -
Anyone use the 1.3 patch with the uncensored mod patch? Or are the mod patches only for ver. 1.2?
-
-
after installing the patch ive stopped gettin widescreen resolutions except 1440 x 900........i wanna lower it but they're all 4:3 resolutions. anyone knows how to resolve it?

Hmm... Got this patch already. Thanks for the heads up though!

Harleyquin07 said: ↑You were warned in the patch notes to restart from the prologue instead of continuing from an old save midway through play, I did mention that in my opening post.

How do I get to know whether I'm using the US version or the Europe version? I bought from Thailand......so I'm really not sure which version is this? Actually I would prefer playing the uncensored version
-

Thailand? You're playing the illegal Black Market Edition.
I still want to know if I have the UK uncensored patches applied to 1.2 and then install the 1.3 patch will the uncensored patch be overwritten? -

Iceman0124 More news from nowhere
You can murder in countless graphical ways, get drunk, gamble, solicit whores, curse like a sailor......but NO NIPPLES!!!....Honestly, if a young child got a hold of that game, as a parent him/her seeing a nipple or two would be the least of my concerns.
-
Hence the 18+ rating for all countries... but which child nowadays can't circumvent a silly rating system.

Been in the Trade Quarter for a day using 1.3. Same jerky, at times, frame rate and a pause or two as earlier complaints read on line..
The swamp average FPS was higher than the Trade Quarter with all the "Oblivion like" plants and grass in motion. Hopefully this will be addressed in next upgrade. -

That much hasn't changed, Trade Quarter was always the slowest part of the game for me due to the ridiculous number of NPCs.
Witcher Patch 1.3 and editor released.
