Like I said, with gaming aside (since we all know it sucks with gaming), how does the X3100 handle multimedia, movies, music, etc...

Pretty well, DVD's play fine for me, music doesn't really involve graphics, but the visualizations in WMP play without any issues. Windows Aero, as expected, runs fine with no stutters during window animations, Flip 3D, etc.

What about basic games? Games that take little to run...old games... I have a 360 for modern games, so that really isn't much of a concern

the x3100 is just a little slower than the 8400gs. Its decent for integrated and should play games like HL 2 etc decently.

There are issues with some older games due driver problems, but games like Max Payne, Soldier Of Fortune, Serious Sam for example are running just fine.

In general its more than enough to run Vista Aero, play dvd's. Its as good as a dedicated card in those basic everyday tasks.

It does games made 2005 and below

If all you do is web-browsing, projects for school (Office 07, Power point, etc), and movies...does it work just as well? Will I regret not spending an extra $100-$150 to not upgrade to an 8400 gs or an 8600 gt?
