I'm just curious, has anyone played World of Tanks on the A4-1200, or otherwise very low-end hardware? I'm curious as to how much fps one could expect from netbook-like hardware with graphics settings tuned down pretty low and with lower resolutions.

I would rather go with any intel cpu for wot as it is a single core game and intel chips offer better single core performance. I did some testing with intel integrated graphics hd3000 and my cpu locked to 1.8ghz and wot was running fine on low to medium settings in 1300x768 resolution just make sure you kill the shadowd. Any celeron or pentium at 1.8ghz or more should be able to run it fine.

If you want some more numbets ask away here and i'lltry to help

Thanks! Anyway, do you happen to have any numbers on the Celeron 1007U? I'm just thinking about picking up a cheap netbook-like device to play WoT on while I'm on campus (and run other Windows-only software, from time to time).

Get one of these: Buy Acer Aspire V5-122P-0646 Touchscreen Laptop - Microsoft Store

I'll load up world of tanks and show a video of it if you'd like. Great netbook so far. It plays many recent games even. :)

Transformer T100 may actually be a decent option as well: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Asus-T100...h-Microsoft-Office-2013-Home-Student/29461851

I'll load it up on there too and see how it runs. But for the money, I think the Acer with the AMD is the better buy. More storage, more RAM, faster CPU and GPU, just battery life is only a few hours.

If you could, that'd be great. Main thing that I'm looking for is 30+ fps, and anything more would be gravy, like medium settings and the like. And if you do test it, would you also be able to test how much of an impact on battery life it'd have? 3.5 hours of battery life on that Acer seems pretty short.

Also, for the T100, are the 32GB/64GB options really (roughly) what they say, or is formatted capacity much lower than advertised like the original Surfaces?

Quick run on the Acer (AMD) at 1366x768 all low settings, it is running 12-18FPS, sometimes low 20's but average probably 16-18. But if you're not staring at the FPS counter it's actually pretty smooth. There is a low res mod that I can try out too. Not sure if the Transformer T100 will do any better, will give it a go later. But yeah formatted capacity is much less. I'll take a look later and let you know.

To get what you want though, likely will need an i3 ULV CPU at least unfortunately.

I'm not sure what you're looking to spend, but Lenovo Ideapad S210 and S215 are possible options.

Interesting little laptops, though for a secondary device I think that'd be a little much, especially for just playing a game or two on campus. I was just exploring the possibility of WoT running on cheap hardware since most performance-related posts I've foudn on Google deal mostly in more proper hardware that'd be at minimum ~$600+.

    Just found this on TransformerForums:

    <param name="movie" value="//www.youtube.com/v/_2zL5zXbsoc?version=3&amp;hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="//www.youtube.com/v/_2zL5zXbsoc?version=3&amp;hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width='560' height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Looks like the T100 can play WoT pretty well, so that's great news. Playable, plus long battery life for other things, and I see it at OfficeDepot for $329, which is extremely tempting...

I'll have to give it a try. So far my AMD netbook performs better than the Transformer, and I get average 15-18fps. I'll upload a video later. Just note that the $329 OfficeDepot Transformer is the 32GB version. It will leave only about 10-12GB of free space left for any installations.

Eh, 32GB is fine with me. A 32GB microSD card is cheaper than the 64GB upgrade, and besides I still have my server for bulk storage. Just need to set up DDNS on it to access it from outside my apartment...

I'm just saying for the same price you can get that Acer and performance will be as good as if not better, plus more RAM and storage, unless you need long battery life or want a smaller form factor.
