Has anyone tried this? I'm guessing that I won't be able to run WoW on the highest settings@ 1680x1050 res (planning to hook up a 20" widescreen LCD to a laptop) -- thinking about picking up a Sony SZ650 -- what can you guys tell me about the gaming performance with this setup?

    thanks!

Hmmm, I play WoW on 1650x1050 on an external monitor and my settings are mostly on high, but a few things on low. I get about 25-35 FPS, and this is on the x700. The 8400GS is a bit of a downgrade compared to the x700, so you're pretty accurate on your guess, it'll play on mid at that res for sure though.

Compared to my desktop (P4 2.8Ghz - GeForce 5700LE - 1GB RAM), which I'm running WoW on med-low settings @ 1680x1050 ( getting 15-20 fps in the Outlands :( ), would you say that I'd see a great difference in performance on the Vaio? (considering it's C2D - 2GB ram - 3 generations newer of a video card?)

thanks for the quick reply :)

Yea, for sure. I'm sure you can play on max settings on max resolution if you find modded drivers and overclock a bit(the 8400GS has quite a bit of leeway last I recall).
