I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with the World of Warcraft 30 Day Free Trial. Once I install and patch will I be able to play without credit card info? And if I can't and I must give info they won't charge until my 30 day trial is up right? And once my free trial is up I can delete my CC info and instead pay with a Prepaid card right? Anyways thanks for the replies.

You never have to give them your credit info unless you want to pay by credit card. The 30 day free trial works like a prepaid game card.

I'd like to add that you should get a friend to refer you before creating an account so they'll get a free month.

Or even go on eBay and sell your referral if you don't have any wow friends.

This is kinda strange. This is from the Blizzard Account Managemnet FAQ

"Why do I need to have a form of payment for account creation?

Subscriptions do require that some form of payment information (such as a credit card) be entered before activation; at this time there is no way around this. This is required in case account play extends over 30 days, so that gameplay will not be disrupted. It also prevents customers from creating "throwaway" accounts to harass others.

Of course, please keep in mind that you are not billed for the first month of the game. Thus, if you want to set up your account immediately, you can use a credit card. Then you can easily change your payment method at any time during your free month, before your paid subscription starts.

NOTE: If you initially set up the account with a credit card, but want to switch to use only a prepaid game card, you must cancel the credit card subscription manually on your Account Management page. Otherwise, when your prepaid game card runs out, the credit card subscription will begin and the credit card will be charged."

So I've got 2 people who claim to not have offered any CC info. WTF?

Why are you so paranoid about your information? Just start the registration for the free trial and if they ask you for a credit card and you don't want to give one close the window. Blizzard is a multinational company with millions and millions of subscribers, they're not going to do anything nefarious with your credit card.

I never used a free trail but I do know that all you have to do is cancel your subscription before the next payment date then go out and buy a game card. (this is assuming that you require a credit card to start a trail account)

There really isn't anything to be worried about.

    WoW sucks IMO.

I got bored of it in three days, worst $40 ever spent on a game. Evar!

Why did you spend $40? It's $20 for the game and comes with a 30 day free trial. The game also comes with a free 14 day trial I think that limits the game a bit.

Also, you don't have to enter any details when doing the trial.

The 30 day free trial lasts 30 days from the time you set up your account. Once your 30 days is up, you will be prompted to go to the account management portion of the website and continue. From there you can choose two methods of payment if you want to continue playing. I chose the game card because I'm not comfortable in giving my credit card number out online. But I'm sure you probably knew that :)

usapatriot - you are entitled to your opinion, however, the nearly 10 million people who play the game worldwide would beg to differ :D

I don't understand what is so appealing about the game? Is it the social aspect? I admit, heaps of people play it. I have mates who are completely addicted. One of them just recently finally went cold turkey and managed to quit the game, hasn't played since.

I tried it once, found it boring running around killing monsters with other dudes. Anyone care to elaborate?

Thanks for all the replies. I'll get it and see if any CC info is required. From these forum replies it looks like I won't need it.

The social aspect is a fun one, I must admit. However I think the relative ease of leveling/playing is what brings people back. WoW isn't as hardcore an MMO as past titles have been, so more people play it. The PvP and raiding also is what most people like. Sort of a broad analysis but it is what it is lol
