    1. If I download the trial, when it runs out, can I keep my account alive by buying a prepaid card?

    2. How much does it cost for a 1-year subscription?

    1. Yes although I think the trial accounts have caps on which chat channels are available and the level you can reach. In order to create a true account you will need to buy a copy of the game plus a pre-paid card.

    2. As far as I know you can only get 60-day cards but you would just buy as many as needed for a year. Check the price out on amazon as it will vary by region. If you wish to pay through an online account you can get 3 different subscription lengths; 1 month, 3 months and 6 months.

After the 7 day trial, you have to buy the retail copy of WoW - $20 (Add another $30 for BC).

Then you get another 30 days. (Just for buying WoW, you don't get anything for BC)

After that, it's $11-15/month, depending on the billing cycle you select.

So for a year how much does it cost?

Not including the purchase of the game and burning crusade?

$155.88 /year at the lowest price of $77.94 per 6 months. Would you like fries with that?

I could buy three other games with that money or two and half years of xbox live!

Yes, it seems like a lot of money but you are paying for an excellent game with a very good online infrastructure. Since I started playing WoW I've not played any of the videogames consoles that litter my home.

Its all up to you though!

Don't knock WoW until you try it. If you like it as much as I did then you will be wondering why they don't charge more. The only reason I stopped is because I needed to focus on other things and it was consuming a HUGE portion of my time. Definately play the trial and see if you like it first though.

If you want my advice, save your money and don't get addicted :p

It has cost me more than just the $155.88 / year, I'm sure :p

if you're looking for a simple answer you'll probably get more for your money than you would buying those 3 games and 2 years of xbox live, meaning you'll probably play it alot more. but if you don't want a big timesink you should shoot for different games that you'll play less. don't get me wrong wow is great and i love the game but that doesn't make it worthwhile if you don't have the time.

Oh, I guarantee it, if you don't have alot of time to play and you buy WoW..you will MAKE time for it. It is that addicting.

I recommend staying away from this videogame. I quit this game for 6 months..I figured..whats the harm in playing it again just an hour a day? Before I know it, my mother gives me a whole speech about how I have a computer internet addiction. I play about 3-5 hours a day again

Its addictive because its a very good game. Since I got it, I dont really play other games anymore. Ive never regretted paying the monthly fee as new content is always being added to the game.

But those 3 other games will bore you after 3 months or so while WoW can stay fun for at least 2 years.
