Would a 7400 or x1400 handle WoW, on full res and full graphics, on a 15" wide screen laptop? Figuring 1440x900 or whatever the mainstream one is. How would it compare to my A64 3200+ w/ 6800 128mb (regular) desktop? It runs it at 1280x1024 @ 50-60fps almost all the time, save for huge areas / battles.

Looking at either the HP dv5000 or Dell 1505, still pinching pennies since mobile WoW and normal photo / web editing (PShop and Dreamweaver) would be the only things really taxing on it.

i run WoW (z70va @ 2ghz, 2gb ram, 60/7200 hard drive) at 1680x1050 in IF around 30FPS, and outside about 45-50FPS..everything is maxxed.

desktop (see sig), everything maxxed, 1680x1050, just about 75FPS all the time..(i think WoW is capped at 75, since it never goes up or down)

    pb,out.

Wow is bugged and is capped at 64fps on a dual-core system. It'll probably get fixed sometime though.

With fewer pipelines on the x1400 and 7400 it may be a strech to get WoW to run with everything maxed and still have playable framerates.

The X1400 should run with everything maxed save AA/AF at 1280x1024. It's faster than the X600, which I used to have, and that ran everything maxed (again, minus AA/AF), at 1280x800.

The 6800 blows away the X1400, by the way.

my 6800gt over clocked runs wow good at max settings, until you hit Origimarr. Then I get down even to 19's and crap. And I cant stand falling below 50ish! So im either waiting on the G80 or R600 chip and scoop up a 7900gt or gtx or a similar radeon with the price drops and wait for the second generation of these chips to come out, because I really dont trust the first gen they're gonna try and push before vista.

Well, I've been playing around with turning down some of the texture detail and no AF while keeping the 'high' (1280x1024) res and I'm fine with the results. If either of these cards can do that without more or less a hiccup, I think I'm sold.

If only I could make my desktop into a Jetsons type car. Push a button and it folds up.
