I have about 3 hours before I pick up a new monitor and need to know how it will run WoW and CS:S. I'm picking up a 20-22" widescreen LCD, most likely Samsung or Viewsonic. How will these two games run with my notebook on the native resolution. I'm very picky to resolutions and need to get a general idea how many FPS I can expect at 1680x1050 with medium settings. Specs on my notebook are below, if anyone has an idea, please tell me what to expect... Thanks in advance.

WoW isnt demanding and I think it shall run smooth at high settings. CS:S is demanding however and shall run at low-medium settings I guess.
Good luck. -
Hrm... fairly high, if not almost everything turned up. Not sure if I would try AA though.
I'm not sure what settings I have my laptop on when I play WoW, but I have everything all the way up, and a few options unchecked. And thats on a gimped x1600. Granted your rez will be higher, but it should do just fine. -
I guess I can always return the monitor if it looks unacceptable. Does anyone have any benchmarks or FPS readings for this setup? I'm concerned about it staying above 30fps, with AA off, V-sync off, and draw distance at a minimum. All comments are appreciated, thanks people.

Ladies and Gentlemen... This is not a joke, and I'm quite blown away at the performance of the X1400. I decided to pick up a 22" LCD, Samsung, 2ms, 3000:1, and plugged it in last night after work. I am absolutely blown away at how well it works with the E1505. I consistently get 30-60 FPS in WoW with the native resolution of 1680x1050. Here are the settings:
- X1400 @ 530/440
- 1680x1050 @ 70hz
- All video settings in WoW maxed except Anisotropic Filtering
- Glow effect turned "OFF"
- V-Sync turned "OFF"
- Using 7.2 cats w/ PowerStrip for OC
I know WoW is an easy game to run, but I had no idea I could run these high of frame rates and level of quality at 1680x1050 with the settings this high. I know the X1400 isn't that good of a performer, but I'm MORE than satisfied. I hope this thread helps someone else down the road.

I told you
I am pretty good in estimating performance of notebooks. How about CS:S, which is more demanding?
-
I run CS S at 1280X800 with a 17'' monitor with everything High, AA X8 As X8, and get at least 30, my high and low are like 25, and 76ish on cs_office (the best map in the world). So you should just turn down AA and AS and be fine with high settings. I dont see why you would have a problem.

I'm sure CS:S won't be that big of a problem, haven't had a chance to play it yet though. I'll get on it tonight and post what my results are tomorrow. Thanks everybody for your input. And... Notebook Solutions... Yes, you were correct! =)
Thanks,

Hey when you run CS:S can you post some Screen shots of it, Im in the market for a new monitor, and i want one with 1680X1050. Also, can you include your FPS (in console type: cl_showfps 2) and let me know your high and low fps.
Thanks man. -
anyone tried CnC3 with X1400? good?
-
By the way, how do I get screeny's, is it ALT+PrintScreen? I haven't done it in a long time.

Yea it works good in CnC3, 1280x800 mostly medium settings with 30FPS unless its a huge battle (50+ disentegrators
)

iN cs:s you press F5, then go the your steam apps folder and then cstrike, and they are in a folder called screen shots. Then upload them to image shack, then post the URL here
WoW on 1680x1050 w/ X1400, how many FPS?
